When I heard the rumor that The Flash was coming back to television a part of the CW Network’s fall line-up, I’ll admit I wasn’t exactly excited. I was a fan of the 1990 TV series The Flash that starred John Wesley Shipp as Barry Allen (and happily, for me anyway, John is playing Henry Allen, Barry’s father in the 2014 TV series). Even though I was a fan of the 1990-1991 version, it was campy and the I wasn’t exactly sure if the CW Network and all parties involved would be able to do another DC Comics justice.
When Arrow first premiered I wasn’t blown away, but as we’ve gone through two seasons (Season 2 which trumpets Season 1) I can honestly say I’ll schedule my life around so I can see Arrow live to avoid spoilers. And I didn’t want to wait halfway through Season 1 of The Flash to have the same sentiment. After watching the extended trailer of The Flash this summer my hope for the series reached an ultimate high. The below extended trailer made me believe The Flash of 2014 was going to deliver.
When word came out that we could see the premiere episode at SDCC 2014 I was ready. Who knew that life would provide me with another amazing opportunity I couldn’t pass up, so I had to skip it. I was truly bummed, but I could wait until Tuesday, October 7, 2014 for the premiere. It would be difficult, but it would be worth it. And it was.
Grant Gustin made me fall in love with Barry Allen’all over again. Iris West (Candice Patton) and Detective Joe West (Jesse L. Martin) were instant faves. Barry and Iris barely said two words to each other and I shipped them HARD! It was good to see Rick Cosnett back on my TV screen again. He portrays Eddie Thawne an officer who works under Det. Joe West and is Iris boyfriend. Like I tweeted during our live-tweet of The Flash premiere:
He really needs to move on over so “Barris” or “Westallen” (whatever their ship name is) can happen. I’m looking forward to learning more about Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) and Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes). As well as, finding out what is up with Dr. Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh). However, the thing that has me losing my mind is seeing Wentworth Miller grace my TV screen again as he portrays Leonard Snart/Captain Cold.
Here is a look at what is to come in Season 1 of The Flash.
What did you think of the season premiere? What do you hope to see in Season 1 of The Flash?
