One of my favorite things about Sleepy Hollow is the way the show explores historical figures and events. I love how Ichabod seems to have to known everyone–that he despised Ben Franklin, had a bit of a man-crush on Thomas Jefferson, and Betsy Ross had a crush on him! Well, it seems that we’re about to meet a few more members of America’s founding generation. TV Line is reporting that Michelle Trachtenberg (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Gossip Girl) has been cast as Abigail Adams:
The Buffy the Vampire vet will play the First Lady — her husband was John Adams, America’s second president — in an upcoming episode.
In addition to being the second FLOTUS, Abigail was mother to future President John Quincy Adams and an early advocate of equal rights for women.
In typical Sleepy fashion, we’ll learn that Abigail had a secret life that involved Katrina Crane.
This should be really interesting–the Sleepy Hollow writers never disappoint with their historical alterations! Do you think Abigail Adams was secretly a witch?!
According to Entertainment Weekly, Trachtenberg’s episode is slated to air in January.
