Calling all fans of romance and fantasy—there’s an upcoming film that you’ll want to make sure is on your radar! The Age of Adaline, a Lionsgate production, is a romantic drama directed by Lee Toland Krieger and stars Blake Lively, Michiel Huisman, Kathy Baker, Amanda Crew, with Harrison Ford and Ellen Burstyn.
According to the official synopsis:
After miraculously remaining 29 years old for almost eight decades, Adaline Bowman (Blake Lively) has lived a solitary existence, never allowing herself to get close to anyone who might reveal her secret. But a chance encounter with charismatic philanthropist Ellis Jones (Michiel Huisman) reignites her passion for life and romance. When a weekend with his parents (Harrison Ford and Kathy Baker) threatens to uncover the truth, Adaline makes a decision that will change her life forever. (via Lionsgate)
Check out the official trailers, which give us glimpses of Adaline’s relatively normal life up until 1935, when she survives a car accident and mysteriously never ages again. We see Adaline with her daughter through the years (who does age), meeting old friends in the most unexpected of places and circumstances, and dealing with all the complications that would arise from someone not at all looking their age:
Is it possible to fall in love without growing old together? Well, that’s certainly an interesting question to consider. And from the trailer, Adaline might say “no,” but it seems her opinion changes as the film progresses.
Personally, I’m excited about seeing Michiel Huisman as a leading man! I enjoyed him in Nashville (Daario Naharis) and Game of Thrones (Liam McGuinnis)…even though his characters could be jerks, they were incredibly handsome and charismatic. These are attributes Ellis Jones seems to share, don’t you think?
Take a look at these images from the film, and remember to check out The Age of Adaline when it hits theaters on Friday, April 24.
