What will happen to Rebekah now that Eva Sinclair is resurfacing? Preview tonight’s The Originals “Save My Soul” with video/photo sneak peeks. The new show airs at 8:00pm ET|PT on The CW.
Last week’s The Originals, “They All Asked for You,” took us right back to the French Quarter. Elijah (Daniel Gillies) had moved out of the Mikaelson compound and Rebekah (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) served as mediator between her two brothers. Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Elijah both wanted Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) and Hope safe, but perhaps Elijah was miffed about the new living arrangements Klaus had sprung on them all. While out in the market, Rebekah was chased down attacked by witches.
Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) was able to save her, but it opened up a serious question about the body she was inhabiting…what had this witch done that landed her in the mental hospital? Marcel asked the seer Ruben (Adam Fristoe) to come perform a spell of Rebekah to see if any memory about her previous self could be attained. We discovered Rebekah was inhabiting the body of Eva Sinclair, a witch would would kidnap children to channel their power. Ruben tried to kill Eva/Rebekah, but she was able to escape.
Under advice from Marcel, Elijah went to visit Josephine LaRue (Meg Foster), the matriarch of the witches outside of the Quarter/Treme Coven. Josephine would be able to tell them more about Rebekah’s new body and potentially serve as an ally against Vincent/Finn (Yusuf Gatewood) and Freya (Riley Voelkel). Elijah knew that she was a music aficionado and invited Gia (Nishi Munshi) to accompany him on the visit. Josephine was enjoyed the Beethoven performance, but was more impressed with Gia’s love of jazz and sass, much like her. In exchange for turning over Eva to the Mikaelson’s custody, Josephine wanted Finn expelled from Vincent Griffith, and the witch returned to her.
At the Mikaelson compound, Klaus and Jackson (Nathan Parsons) were already clashing about the best way to protect Hope. The werewolves were looking for Vincent/Finn, who had disappeared from the morgue. If he was alive, that meant he and/or Freya were much more powerful than expected. Jackson and Aiden (Colin Woodell) also disagreed on the best strategies—maybe being Alpha was getting to Jackson’s head? And of course, Klaus used this disagreement to breed dissension. He promised to help Aiden become leader of the pack.
Meanwhile, Jackson and Hayley were settling into married life, but having some intimacy issues. How involved should Jackson be with rearing Hope? How could sexy times happen with a crying baby to care for? Jackson was able to show Hayley that he could be good with Hope and ultimately this new understanding between them led to sexy times.
Elsewhere, Vincent/Finn needed more power and wanted to channel Mikael (Sebastian Roché) for that purpose. However, Freya insisted on meeting with Mikael first and reuniting with her father (even if she didn’t feel the same longing for her mother). Freya awakened her father, and immediately Mikael attacked her. He didn’t believe Freya could possibly still be alive. But after sharing memories from her childhood about Mikael, he was convinced. This was actually a very sweet reunion. They were interrupted by Aiden and the other wolves, but Freya was actually able to save Aiden’s life by telling Mikael they had other business to attend to and leaving. It turned out that Freya was having him collect the materials she would need to kill Dahlia.
Klaus found Vincent/Finn at the cemetery and was about to kill him, even though Elijah tried to stop him. Freya then arrived and was able to expel Finn from Vincent’s body and place his consciousness in her pendant. She then promised that she wouldn’t hurt harm Hope, and that they must join together to kill Dahlia. Klaus wasn’t convinced, but definitely met his match in his older sister.
In other developments: Elijah and Gia finally hooked up (perhaps out of loneliness); Hayley promised that if Klaus ever tried to use Hope to manipulate her, she would take the baby and leave; Eva’s consciousness had awakened and was taking over her body from Rebekah, once again attacking children.
In tonight’s episode “Save My Soul,” directed by Kellie Cyrus and written by Michael Russo:
FLASHBACKS TO FREYA’S CHILDHOOD—Suspicious of where her true loyalties lie, Klaus invites Freya to the compound in order to gain more insight into her past with Dahlia. After a series of strange visions, Rebekah begins to realize the body she’s inhabiting is attempting to regain control. With Rebekah’s life on the line, Marcel puts his bargaining skills to the test when he turns to Vincent, who may have some knowledge that could help them. Lastly, at the bayou, Jackson’s frustrations grow after Aiden questions his leadership skills. (via The CW)
