As a lead up to next month’s Fifty Shades of Grey Digital HD/DVD/Blu-ray release, Universal Pictures made a big announcement yesterday at their CinemaCon*** 2015 panel in Las Vegas. The studio has set the release dates for Fifty Shades‘ upcoming sequels! Sticking with the Valentine’s weekend, Fifty Shades Darker will hit theaters on February 10, 2017 and we can expect Fifty Shades Freed the following year on February 9, 2018.

The fantasy continues…YES!
Each of the films will be based on the respective EL James’ novel and it was confirmed earlier this week that Niall Leonard (EL’s husband) will be the screenwriter for Fifty Shades Darker. According to The Hollywood Reporter:
Niall Leonard, who is married and has two sons with the British author, is an author himself, in addition to being a screenwriter. He’s written for the British TV shows Air Force One Is Down andWire in the Blood, among others. He’s also the author of the Crusher book series. He also worked on the script for the first Fifty Shades but was not credited.
“Niall is an outstanding writer in his own right, with multiple established credits, and we are lucky to have him join Team Fifty,” says producer Michael De Luca in a statement to THR.
Yesterday, Universal also confirmed that, in addition to an unrated version of the film, alternate ending, and almost 2 hours of bonus content (e.g. interviews with cast/creators), the Fifty Shades Digital HD (coming May 1) and Blu-ray (coming May 8) will include an exclusive teaser of Fifty Shades Darker:
We got a little sneak peek with this first image (below) from the first sequel! Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) is looking oh so sexy in a black tux and domino mask…*UNF*
*SPOILER ALERT* If you’ll recall from the second book, after Christian and Ana reunite, he invites her to a masquerade charity ball at his parents’ house. It’s a fun evening, but shenanigans definitely ensue, including a run-in with Mrs. Robinson (Lincoln)!
I can’t wait to see what else will be of the FSD teaser! What are you most looking forward to seeing in the Fifty Shades sequels?
