Watch sneak peeks of three new ABC dramas we’re excited about: OIL, Quantico, and The Catch, coming to the Fall 2015/Spring 2016 season.
Last week the major TV networks held their Upfront 2015 events and shared Fall primetime schedules, including which shows would return for another season and their new debuts. ABC announced that several of our favorite shows would be returning, like Shondaland TGiT’s Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, and How to Get Away with Murder, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and Agent Carter, black-ish, Once Upon a Time, and more.
While some shows have unfortunately been canceled (e.g. Revenge), the good news is there are several new debuts that already look promising. In particular, I’m really excited about Blood & Oil, Quantico, and The Catch which will all be coming to ABC during the Fall 2015/Spring 2016 season.
Take a look at the synopses of the three TV shows (below) as well as sneak peeks of what we can expect from each of the series:
Blood & Oil: Sundays @ 9:00pm ET|PT

Billy and Cody Lefever dream of a new life beyond their working class roots and move to “The Bakken” in North Dakota, booming after the biggest oil discovery in American history. They’re soon pitted against a ruthless tycoon who forces them to bet big and put everything on the line, including their marriage.
Starring: Don Johnson as Hap; Chace Crawford as Billy; Rebecca Rittenhouse as Cody; Delroy Lindo as Tip; Amber Valletta as Carla; Scott Michael Foster as Wick; India de Beaufort as Jules; Yani Gellman as AJ; and Caitlin Carver as Lacey.
Blood & Oil gives me ALL the Dallas feels, and I loved both the original and the reboot right up until it was canceled last year. There must be something about the oil industry that’s ripe with potential for family drama, competition, deception/double-dealing, getting rich quick, and sexy romance. Toss in the fact that the story is set in North Dakota, and I’m all in! (I spent the first half of my childhood in Fargo, ND 🙂 )
Quantico: Sundays @ 10:00pm ET|PT

A diverse group of recruits has arrived at the FBI Quantico Base for training. They are the best, the brightest and the most vetted, so it seems impossible that one of them is suspected of masterminding the biggest attack on New York City since 9/11.
Starring: Priyanka Chopra as Alex; Dougray Scott as Liam; Jake McLaughlin as Ryan; Aunjanue Ellis as Miranda; Yasmine Al Massri as Nimah; Johanna Braddy as Shelby; Tate Ellington as Simon; and Graham Rogers as Caleb.
Quantico had me at the one-night/day-stand gone wrong…what do you do when the guy you hook up with in the front seat of a car turns out to your classmate? So scandalous! Besides that, it seems a crazy “whodunnit” storyline emerges when Alex is falsely accused of planning a terrorist attack—she might be innocent, but that means one of her fellow FBI agents/school-chums is guilty! You can tell this show will be INTENSE and the people who we think are our friends might end up being our worst enemies.
The Catch: Coming Midseason

From Shondaland’s Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers, “The Catch” is a new thriller centered on the strong, successful Alice Martin (Mireille Enos). She’s a fraud investigator who’s about to be the victim of fraud herself by her fiancé. Between her cases, she is determined to find him before it ruins her career.
Starring Mireille Enos as Alice; Alimi Ballard as Evan; Damon Dayoub as Kieran; Jay Hayden as James; Jacky Ido as Emil; Bethany Joy Lenz as Zoe; Rose Rollins as Andie; and Elvy Yost as Maria.
As you can tell by now, I’m a huge, HUGE Shonda Rhimes fan. Plus, after the Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal finales (barring the potential JApril break-up), I’m feeling so much love for Shondaland. So I’d likely be watching The Catch anyway; however, I’m super excited by this intriguing plot. Alice, an FBI fraud investigator, is duped by her fiance weeks before their wedding in what turns out to be a longterm con. WHATTTTTT?! How far will Alice go to get retribution? And is it possible that Kieran has fallen for his mark? Also, I’m REALLY glad to see Bethany Joy Lenz back on primetime, even though she’s a baddie in this role. (LOVED her as Hayley on One Tree Hill!)
***UPDATE June 2, 2015: Variety reports that the characters of Kieran (Damon Dayoub) and Zoe (Bethany Joy Lenz) are in the process of being recast.
So, what do you think? Many shows are on hiatus for the summer, but we know that come this fall, there will be several old and potential new favorites waiting for us. Which shows are you most looking forward to seeing this next season? Share your thoughts in comments!
