Downton Abbey cast members Hugh Bonneville, Lesley Nicol, and more discuss their hopes for their characters at the conclusion of the series.
This past March, Carnival Films and PBS Masterpiece announced that Season 6 will be the final season of Downton Abbey, and since then I’ve been looking forward to the upcoming season with bittersweet anticipation. Sure, it was always unlikely we’d see the Crawleys experience the Great Depression and World War II. But still, it feels like there’s so much left to cover!
Will Mary (Michelle Dockery) and Edith (Laura Carmichael) ever be friendly? Can Edith to be able to claim Marigold and have long lasting romance? Can Anna (Joanne Froggatt) and Bates (Brendan Coyle) FINALLY have a drama-free HEA?
Well, we still have one more full season and a Christmas Special to look forward to, so hopefully all our questions will be answered. In the mean time, Downton cast-members shared their thoughts on how they’d like to see the series end for their characters. In an exclusive PBS Masterpiece video, Hugh Bonneville (Lord Robert), Lesley Nicol (Mrs. Patmore), Laura Carmichael, Rob James-Collier (Thomas), and Phyllis Logan (Mrs. Hughes) offer their thoughts, which include: Robert and Cora (Elizabeth McGovern) taking an extended vacation, Thomas falling in love, Edith maintaining her independence, and more. Check it out below:
Those fantasy endings sound lovely and not too removed from the realm of realistic possibilities. What do you think?
