Ghost struggles to keep Tommy from going over the edge now that Holly is missing and Angela seems to be getting closer to the truth. Get a sneak peek of tonight’s Power “You’re Not the Man”, airing at 9:00pm ET|PT on STARZ.
With Power Season 2, Episode 6 “Why Her?” (directed by Sanford Bookstaver) we hit the latter half of Season 2 and things continue to bring all the drama.
“Why Her?” opens with Angela (Lela Loren) and Holly (Lucy Walters) in a diner. Tension was in the air as Holly questioned how Angela’s Department of Justice colleagues would feel if they knew she was dating a drug dealer. Angela didn’t seem phased by this question and immediately gets back to trying to ascertain if James (Omari Hardwick) is actually Ghost. Angela may have her own agenda, but so does Holly, whose only mission is to make sure Tommy (Joseph Sikora) doesn’t go to jail. For this to happen Angela tasks Holly with finding the gun that James/Ghost ask Tommy to hold “the night of the big snow storm.”
Meanwhile, Tommy, Vladimir (William Popp) and Ghost meet up to discuss them becoming the new distributor for Vladimir and his crew. From this meeting Ghost is concerned that Vladimir is not someone they can trust and they will have to watch their backs because Vladimir will do everything to show is power.
Later on, Tommy and Ghost introduce the drug ring leaders to each other: Drifty (Jamie Hector) who with the Haitians supply Jersey, Ruiz (Luis Antonio Ramos) whose territory is the Bronx, and Vladimir and his fellow Serbians who control Staten Island and the Lower East Side. Noticeable missing is Kanan (Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson) and Dre (Rotimi Akinosho) who now run Queens with the RSK’s; Ruiz questions why this is case. However, Ghost moves things along and gets back to the point of the meeting: everyone knows who handles what area, but don’t let that limit them all from pushing more product as long as they don’t get into each other’s way. Because they “make more money together than apart” because that’s how they will get paid!
While Tommy and Ghost are trying secure that they will make more money with their new connections, Holly is on a mission to find the gun that Angela needs to supposedly get Tommy off. She is successful in finding a gun, but it isn’t the gun that killed Rolla (Darrell Britt-Gibson). Therefore, Angela resets the time clock for Holly to save Tommy and they are both unaware that Greg (Andy Bean) has spied their entire encounter. Holly is further motivated to make this happens because Tommy has given her his grandmother’s ring as a way to let the world know she is his. It’s not an engagement ring, more a not yet, but it will happen/promise ring. In the end, the ring didn’t matter when Holly who was ordered to skip town by Ghost decides not to follow through with his plans and goes to tell Tommy the truth about the Feds questioning her. She asks Tommy to choose her over Ghost and he vehemently doesn’t.
On Power self-preservation is always at its finest and Ruiz proves that when he sets up a meeting with Dre to let him know that Ghost purposely kept them from the earlier meet. Ruiz also lets Dre know that he has his back, but he doesn’t have Kanan’s and in the end they should all be concerned over their new connection with Vladimir and his crew.
Tasha (Naturi Naughton) is dealing with the decision to kick James out and the sexual tension that was rising between her and Shawn (Sinqua Walls) in “Why Her?” comes to an epic conclusion with them sleeping together in Ghost’s SUV after Tasha picks up Ghost from the police station. Ghost, in an effort to keep things at a norm with Angela, got a bit distracted and got into an accident and Tasha came to the rescue only to see Angela there as well. This set her off and Ghost had to admit the truth about his past with Angela, her job as a United States attorney, and how she is coming after Tommy and after that most likely him. This prompted Tasha to ensure that her family is safe and instructed Ghost to “keep f&@king that b!tch until I tell you to stop.”
