Murder and mayhem is what’s left in wake when the Maniax come through. What new level of terror will they bring in tonight’s new episode of Gotham “The Last Laugh” airing on FOX at 8/7c.
The Maniax, led by Jerome Valeska (Cameron Monaghan), under the guise of Theo Galavan (James Frain) created utter chaos and instilled terror among the Gotham City residents in last week’s episode “Knock, Knock”. Murder, mayhem, and destruction were their course of action and all were achieved. The most shocking moment (for me) was Sarah Essen (Zabryna Guevara), the moral compass within the Gotham City Police Department die after being tortured by Jerome.
Essen is one of my favorite characters on Gotham, and to have her die by horrific means will leave a bitter taste in my mouth for Gotham season 2. Seeing Bullock (Donal Logue) return to the GCPD due to ruin the Maniax left of the precinct fills a small piece of my Gotham soul, but it won’t be enough. And honestly I’m not sure what will make it better.
“Knock, Knock” also let us fully into Thomas Wayne’s secret chamber. Within the chamber we see that Bruce’s (David Mazouz) father had been a vigilante in his own right, and Alfred (Sean Pertwee) was determined this not be Bruce’s future. In his zealousness to stop Bruce from following down his father’s past, he caused a rift between the pair that led to his termination. Luckily he was later reinstated as Bruce’s caretaker.
Barbara Kean (Erin Richards) is officially a full-fledged Maniax member, and proved it by taking out a bit of punishment on Gordon (Ben McKenzie) via Aaron Helzinger (Stink Fisher). This scene was interesting because we still have no true timestamp on when the events are happening on Gotham, but Barbara lured Jim out the GCPD precinct by calling him from a mobile. Take a look with the clip from “Knock, Knock”:
Now we will catch up with everyone in tonight’s episode, “The Last Laugh”:
Gordon and Bullock track down a nemesis from the past, leading to a standoff between Jerome (guest star Cameron Monaghan) and Gordon. Meanwhile, a magic show at the Gotham Children’s Hospital gala turns into a hostage situation. (via FOX)
Gordon barely made it out of his last standoff with Maniax members, let’s see how he fares tonight going up against Jermone. And where there are children, Bruce and Selina Kyle/the future Catwoman (Camren Bicondova) are sure to be there. Gotham: season 2, episode 3 “The Last Laugh” will most likely be another action packed episode. Let’s go a bit further into the sneak peek with image stills, followed by the trailer and a clip of Jermone having a final moment with his father.
