Jane The Virgin returns tonight and the search for Baby Mateo is on! Get a sneak peek of the Season 2 premiere, airing at 9:00pm ET|PT on The CW.
Jane The Virgin was clearly one of the favorite debuts of last year’s television series. We all fell in love with aspiring author Jane Villanueva and her quirky family built around strong women and a sweetly conceited dad (Rogelio is my brogelio!). Of course there was the odd situation of Jane being a pregnant virgin, followed by the ensuing love triangle with two equally gorgeous and sweet guys. Jane The Virgin was full of the humor, wild drama, and romance that we love in telenovelas. Gina Rodriguez earned that Golden Globe win, and here’s hoping it’s the first of many for the show!
Well, Jane The Virgin returns tonight for it’s second season, and after the cliff-hanger we were left with in May’s finale, I know we’re all desperate for some resolution! If you’ll recall, at the end of Chapter Twenty-Two, Jane gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, Mateo Gloriano Rogelio Solano Villanueva. We were happy, beaming with this new addition to the family. Unfortunately our celebration was cut short when one of Jane’s nurses (under the pretense of taking the baby for some tests), kidnapped Mateo and placed him right in the arms of Sin Rostro (Rose) herself! *GASP*
And now we have so many questions! Where is Mateo and when will he be reunited with his family? When will Sin Rostro be captured and punished? Will baby Mateo soon have a younger sibling (now that Petra knows the fertility clinic has located another one of Rafael’s sperm samples)? Will Xo and Rogelio stay married? WHO WILL JANE CHOOSE (#TeamMichael. #TeamRafael)?
Tonight, we start getting some answers! “Chapter Twenty-Three”, written by (creator) Jennie Snyder Urman and directed by Brad Silberling:
FINDING MATEO–After Jane (Gina Rodriguez) discovers Mateo’s abduction, chaos ensues, especially when they all learn Sin Rostro is involved and demanding a ransom. Trying to help, Rogelio (Jaime Camil) tweets about Mateo’s kidnapping making the Villanueva family targets of the paparazzi. Despite everything that has happened, Jane must also focus on motherhood and turns to Xo (Andrea Navedo) and Alba (Ivonne Coll) for help, leaving Rafael (Justin Baldoni) feeling left out. Meanwhile, Petra (Yael Grobglas) is conflicted with what to do with Rafael’s remaining sperm sample. Brett Dier also stars. (via The CW)
I’m so glad to hear that Jane and company will realize Mateo has been abducted AND who has him; hopefully they’ll be reunited soon! I’m also excited to see how Jane and Rafael balance parenthood, especially with Michael still lurking around. And Petra has a big decision to make too.
Check out the Season 2 trailer and a sneak peek from the upcoming show. We get glimpses of Jane realizing Mateo is missing, Xo revealing her marriage to Rogelio, as well as Jane maybe making a choice between Michael and Rafael:
