Tonight Jane tries to figure out how to handle her Michael/Rafael triangle. Watch a sneak peek of Jane the Virgin, airing at 9:00pm ET|PT on The CW.
Last week’s Jane The Virgin premiere picked up just nine minutes after the Season 1 finale. The “nurse” had taken Mateo to Sin Rostro, while Jane and Rafael sat in the hospital room looking at photos of the baby for the birth announcement. But when a real nurse came to take Mateo for his hearing test, everyone quickly realized what was wrong. Security footage confirmed that the lady who had taken him wasn’t affiliated with the hospital.
Everyone scrambled for what to do next, but Michael (who was at a bar drinking his sorrows) had already received a call from Rose telling him that she had Mateo. In exchange, Rose wanted a dragonfly broach that the police was keeping as evidence. There was a chip embedded in the broach that has a complete record of the criminals Sin Rostro had performed reconstructive surgery on. So Michael, Rafael, and Jane (who literally just gave birth) made their way to the station only to realize that Luisa had taken the pin when she was being questioned by the police. When Luisa went to get the broach, her current girlfriend (Juicy Jordan) was upset that she would keep Rose’s things and dumped the box off the balcony into the pool. Jane found the broach under a light fixture and Michael was able to make the trade for Mateo at a church (Nadine, Michael’s ex-partner was there on Sin Rostro’s behalf). Jane was reunited with Mateo that night.
Life as a new mommy continued to be stressful for Jane. She was concerned about not being able to nurse Mateo and his losing weight. Jane really feared that her maternal instincts were absent. Things got even more hectic when the press descended on the Villanueva’s house (Rogelio had tweeted about Mateo’s kidnapping and subsequent return). “Jane the Virgin” had given birth to her miracle baby and neighbors and nuns (Jane’s former employers) were more than happy to exploit the situation. Jane was eventually able to shut it down by convincing the nuns that Jane actually wasn’t a virgin.
Rafael was also having difficulty figuring out the best way to fit into the new family dynamic. He asked Michael for help (which made Michael very uncomfortable). But Michael ultimately gave Rafael solid advice, which Rafael put to work by providing information about Mateo’s cluster feeding.
Elsewhere, Petra had Rafael’s other sperm sample and tried to decide what to do next. The canister went missing for a little while (Rafael’s assistant, Scott, mistook it for a baby present), but ultimately Petra got it back. After talking to her Mom (currently in prison for assaulting Jane’s abuelita), Petra decided to give Rafael the sample and move on. However, Luisa (who, admittedly, was trying to help Rafael) mentioned how everything was her fault and Rafael’s baby really should have been hers. So, thinking there was still a chance with Rafael, Petra inseminated herself.
In the end: Xo confessed that she and Rogelio had gotten married in Vegas; Scott confronted Petra about stealing Rafael’s sperm; Jane reassured Michael that Rafael was only staying over at the house for Mateo (no romance involved); Jane, Rafael, and Mateo started settling into their new (weird) life together; and a mystery woman (French-speaking, maybe in the Swiss mountains?) looked at a picture of Jane on her phone and said “Let’s go after her. Now.”
Tonight’s episode (“Chapter Twenty-Four”) is written by David S. Rosenthal, directed by Ed Ornelas, and guest-stars singer/songwriter Kesha! Take a look at the official synopsis below:
Jane is finally in a rhythm with Mateo, but finds herself out of step with Rafael and Michael and the potential love triangle that is brewing between them. In order to not be sued for missing their Vegas arrangement, Xo and Rogelio must perform on a cruise ship. Petra and Rafael are suspicious of Lachlan (guest star Michael Rady) and his recent business proposal, but are soon faced with an even more shocking revelation. Meanwhile, Alba makes a very big decision that will impact her life. (via The CW)
“…potential love triangle”??? Are they kidding? We’re in the midst of a full-blown, three-way romantic entanglement! Truth be told, I have no idea what Jane should do. I’m literally and actually in love with both Michael and Rafael. Last week when Michael was willing to risk his career to help get Mateo back…then when he gave Rafael advice on how to get along with the Villanueva women, just because Jane’s happiness is his endgame… *FEELINGS* And then Rafael is such a great dad! During one of the last scenes where he’s holding Mateo and bonding with his son while Jane sleeps… I CANNOT. Both of these men are so wonderful, and they really love Jane. She is one lucky lady; although having to make this choice might not be *that* lucky.
What do you think of the Jane/Michael/Rafael relationship?
Check out this sneak peek from the upcoming show, which features a flashback to the early months of Jane and Michael’s relationship. He takes her camping and things don’t go very well:
See what I mean?! Michael is so sweet. When he says he can’t imagine any any deal-breakers with Jane my heart pitter-patters. Of course, there are several swoony Rafael moments too, some of which we’ll probably see in tonight.
Thanks for Access Hollywood, we also have a clip of Kesha talking about her role in the episode. She’s the noisy neighbor who’s preventing Mateo from getting being able to sleep:
“…entitled breeders” *SNORT*
