The Portokalos family returns in My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, the long-awaited follow-up to the highest-grossing romantic comedy of all time. Watch the new trailer and get ready to laugh!
Updated with new official poster! (01/23/2016)
One of my favorite college memories is getting together with my floormates and watching My Big Fat Greek Wedding! I didn’t know much about Greek culture, but the film reminded me so much of my own family dynamics: the sweet, well-meaning (yet slightly difficult) parents, the perpetual pressure to get married (and only to someone the family approves of), and the never-ending stream of aunts, uncles, cousins, and distant relatives. This film might as well have been called My Big Fat Nigerian Wedding!
Toula was my SoulSister, and if she could find happiness with Hottie McHotterson Ian Miller (AKA Aidan! *SATC FEELS*), then maybe I could too.
If you’ve been wondering what happened to Toula, Ian, and their little daughter since the end of the film, well you’re in luck! Next year, Universal Pictures will be bringing us My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2! Nia Vardalos will star alongside the entire returning cast of favorites, as the film reveals a Portokalos family secret that will bring the beloved characters back together for an even bigger and Greeker wedding.
In the trailer we see Toula and Ian’s daughter Paris is grown up and getting ready to apply to college. Like her mother, Paris chafes under the constant attention of her big Greek family. At the same time, Toula and Ian are trying to reconnect in their marriage, but find that there are always interruptions. But the most scandalaous (and hilarious) development, is when we learn something unexpected about Toula’s parent’s marriage:
“…if your knees are open, shut your eyes.” HAHAHAHAH, oh goodness, I love Auntie Voula!
There are so many funny parts to look forward to! It’s interesting that Toula/Paris have a lot of the same arguments that Toula had with her own parents. It really is payback! And how about Maria maybe deciding she doesn’t want to marry Gus again? But it looks like their second wedding is going to be even more ostentatious, and I can’t wait!
My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 will be in theaters March 25, 2016. For more information, check out www.mybigfatgreekweddingmovie.com.
