Tonight, Briggs family drama comes to a breaking point! Get a sneak peek of Blood & Oil’s Season 1 Finale “Departures”, airing at 9:00pm ET|PT on ABC.
How perfectly dramatic has this season of Blood & Oil been?! We’ve seen family drama within the Briggs and LeFever households; business drama as Billy tried to get in Hap’s good graces, only to be double/triple/quadruple-crossed; TONS of relationship drama, culminating in the Hap/Carla/Jules/Wick and Billy/Cody/Emma/Dr. Alex love rhombusses (that’s really a thing!), and legal drama involving the local police and the FBI!
And now we see a situation where Team Hap Briggs is going up against Team Annie Briggs for rights to a cache of oil under the Black Elk Reservation larger than all of Saudi Arabia. It’s likely that Team Hap will get the deal since Chief Elaine White Cloud’s son (and advisor), Dr. Alex White, witnesses Billy kissing Emma and breaking Cody’s heart. Does this mean Cody might rebound with the sexy Dr. Alex? Even more scandalous, Jules is pregnant with a Briggs baby and has no idea who the father is! And finally, Lacey now knows that her brother Wick was responsible for stealing the oil rig and holding Hap at gunpoint. DRAMA. DRAMA. DRAMA!!!
Tonight’s season finale will answer several questions, but probably leave us wanting a whole lot more. Thanks to ABC, we have the official synopsis and several sneak peeks to share.
“Departures”, story by Jon Harmon Feldman and teleplay by Nicholas Schutt and David Renaud, was directed by Andrew Bernstein and features returning guest-stars Lolita Davidovich (Annie Briggs), JD Pardo (Dr. Alex White), and Peyton List (Emma Lundegren):
THE BRIGGS ARE DETERMINED TO MAKE THIS CHRISTMAS MERRY WHEN THEY JOIN FORCES TO SECURE THE BIGGEST OIL PLAY IN THE BAKKEN, BUT THE QUESTION IS, WILL BILLY STAY IN THE GAME?—Christmas is a time for coming together, but for the Lefevers, it’s a time of difficult choices. Billy faces an ultimatum to either save his marriage by leaving Rock Springs forever or to stay in the oil game alone while Cody experiences temptation in the form of another man. With the Black Elks land deal slipping away, Annie and Hap consider doing the unthinkable–joining forces to help secure this once-in-a-lifetime oil acquisition. Fearing the fate of his son, AJ enlists Tip to help bring the child to safety. And finally, another father-and-son relationship is pushed to its limits when Hap and Wick finally lay it all out on the table at the Briggs Christmas Eve gathering. (via ABC)
Watch two clips from the upcoming show. In the first video, Billy and Cody have a heart-to-heart that ends with her giving him an ultimatum.
And in the second clip, Hap seemingly apologizes to Wick for being a bad father…then things take a scary turn:

OK, first, we all know there’s no way Billy is leaving North Dakota with Cody, which is a shame. But from this season, we Billy has shown himself to be impetuous and money-driven, even when it’s risky for his family.
Second, when Hap put that gun in Wick’s face, my heart stopped. Would Hap shoot his son at Christmas dinner…? Welps, we shall see!
