War has finally come to the Highlands, and everyone is really excited about the prospect of killing British soldiers. Except me. I’m not excited. Here’s a look at ‘Prestonpans’!
yay. It’s time for war with the British. This is basically me the entire episode, plus trying to figure out who’s getting killed off because lets face it, you can’t have war without death on both sides. For the full recap of “Prestonpans”, take a look HERE!
Here are some thoughts I had while watching…
Bagpipes and drums.
I am not ready for war.
I wonder if Culloden happened because Claire went back in time. Maybe she’s the start and end of the circle of history?
UGH. Charles is back.
Listen to the freaking Scotsmen! They know their land.
This “may I remind him” stuff is so passive aggressive.
I was waiting for it. MARK ME.
Charles wants to meet with the British general? Is he serious right now?
There are too many cooks in the kitchen for this strategy meeting…
Well, you can’t go breaking a promise to God, Charles.
Of course Claire is helping with the hospital.
WHAT?!? British soldiers before the Jacobites?
I cannot with this nonsense.
“I’m afraid the British have never been a friend to the Scots.”
Charles thinks Claire will listen to Jamie on patient care. He knows nothing.
Murtagh, play a trick on Dougal. You know you want to.
Rupert and Angus are such children.
Murtagh!!!!! OH MY GAWD. Put that knife away, Angus, before he sticks it someplace.
The British are sooo close, but that ground looks horrible.
UNF. Jamie with that wind blowing his hair and that smirk. It’s too much.
We’ve had our differences Dougal, but gosh, do I like you right now!
Oh sweet lord. Rupert and Angus are talking to Charles.
Okay, so the horse is stuck and Dougal has zero cares about the bullets. I’m worried for his sanity. TURN AROUND!
A bullet grazed his skull, and there’s not even a sense of urgency to his movements.
Of course the Scots are like YEAAAHHH! And I’m like STOP.
Charles hugged Dougal and my life is over.
Mark ME. If he had a hundred Dougals, that’d be a crazy army.
He said he shat his pants. I CANNOT.
Claire is going to be amazing with this field hospital.
Fergus is my child. They can’t sit still for even a moment.
Don’t give her lip, Fergus.
There’s always a secret passage, isn’t there?
I don’t really trust the kid, to be honest.
Wait. They’re doing this NOW?
I have a terrible feeling about Ross and Kincaid making this pact.
Angus and Rupert dividing their belongings, too. MY HEART.
If Murtagh dies, I quit everything.
I need some Claire and Jamie alone time.
Fergus, sweetheart, you need to be locked away until this is over.
Angus. STAHP with this dying nonsense. I’m Rupert here.
Jamie bowing to Claire as he leaves. WHHHYYYYY?
I still think they should have scouted this trail first. JS.
Oh no. Fergus, you weren’t supposed to go!
I can’t stand Charles. You aren’t a fighter, sir. You’re barely a Prince.
I’m these women. Worried. Anxious. Wanting this to be over.
The background drums are making me nervous.
Someone save Fergus.
Running into fog? Nope.
This battle scene is incredible.
Oh no, Kincaid!
You have to take care of his family, Ross. All six bairns.
FERGUS. You’re not ready for battle.
NOOOOOOO!!!!!! RUPERT!!! Please no!
“I’ll not allow that fat bawbag to die on me.”
That cut is horrific.
Angus got the effects of a cannon blast?! What about internal bleeding??
Jamie and Claire
The battle only last 15 minutes. Wow.
Fergus shouldn’t have been there. Oh god.
Dougal’s double-tapping everyone.
This red coat is laying out facts. You’ve won the battle but you won’t win the war.
I have a terrible feeling that Angus is going to die.
Jamie didn’t think it was important to tell her he’d been stepped on by a horse?
This is a literal pissing contest. WOW.
Charles, you need to stop talking about British soldiers like this in front of Highlanders. You can’t tell Scotsmen that they’re brothers with the English.
I have a feeling that Jamie knows Dougal will burn everything down if he gets kicked out of this war.
Jamie just got the most blood-thirsty guy in this army a command of his own. This will end well.
You champion me and exile me at the same time… oh dear.
NO. Angus.
DAMMIT. I didn’t ask for this. He didn’t even get to know that Rupert was awake and alive.
Rupert took Angus’ sword.
Claire is absolute right about Culloden.
Rupert and Ross can’t hold it together tonight and neither can I.
