At this year’s Comic-Con, we talked with Keiynan Lonsdale AKA Wally West from The Flash about Flashpoint and Kid Flash. Watch the interviews below!

After The Flash‘s INSANE season 2 ending, I know we’re all eager to find out the consequences of Barry’s Flashpoint decision.
At this year’s Comic-Con, cast and creators gave us all sorts of hints about what fans can expect in Season 3.
At the panel presentation, the first trailer (which you can watch HERE) was released, and from the two-minute teaser, we see that EVERYTHING is different in the Flashpoint world.
One of those major differences is that Barry is no longer The Flash—Wally West is!
I had a chance to chat with Keiynan Lonsdale at SDCC and he had a lot of thoughts about taking on the Kid Flash persona.
In the series of videos below, Keiynan answers the big questions we all want to know!
What was it like putting on the Kid Flash costume for the first time?
Keiynan describes the moment as “surreal”. Even though he didn’t grow up reading the comic-books, when auditioning for the role of Wally West and doing his research, he knew pretty early on that the Kid Flash story line was coming and couldn’t wait to take it on.
How will Flashpoint change Wally’s character?
Besides being Kid Flash, Keiynan believes Wally’s whole outlook on life is changed in the aftermath of Flashpoint:
“You’re seeing a Wally that is kind of everything he’s wanted to be…and he is really happy. He’s really content with his life…”
This optimism and confidence spills over into Wally’s relationship with Joe and Iris too.
Did Grant’s experiences provide any instruction for playing Kid Flash?
YES! Keiynan says he’s taken a lot of physical cues from Grant, like the running-slide into a scene. In fact, Grant was there when Keiynan filmed his first Kid Flash scenes and provided helpful advice. Keiynan also finds that his experience as a professional dancer helps with the physicality of the role.
Who else in the DC Universe should Kid Flash interact with?
Keiynan would like to see his character hang out with Firestorm (DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, played by Franz Drameh) and Killer Frost! He expresses a lot of admiration for how Danielle Panabaker portrays Caitlin’s duality.
We can’t wait to see Keiynan’s new Wally West/Kid Flash!
The Flash returns Tuesday, October 4 at 8:00pm ET|PT on The CW!
