Ross returns home and finds difficulty putting his life back together. Meanwhile, will Demelza tell him her news? Watch a sneak peek of tonight’s Poldark!

Last week’s Poldark premiere was everything I hoped it would be. Season 2 is definitely off to a dramatic start.
Yes, Ross was found “not guilty” of looting, inciting a riot, and murder… though it was really close for awhile there. Despite Demelza, Francis, and Elizabeth’s best efforts, George Warleggan was determined to see Ross in jail. To think that George hired people to lie on Ross in open court! I was just glad that Jud Paynter found his conscience on the stand and didn’t turn on Ross.
I was also really impressed with Ross’ comments to the court. He could have taken his lawyer’s advice and begged for leniency, but it was more important to Ross that he speak up for Cornwall’s poor workers.
In fact, this is one of the things I love most about Poldark: it doesn’t shy away from the class clashes of the time. Not only did we see that in Ross’ trial, but also in the Parliamentary elections that were basically rigged so George’s hand-picked candidate could win. And the working man who speaks up (AKA throws horse poo at said candidate) is sentenced to be hanged for inciting a riot.
Elsewhere, Francis almost shot himself… HAVE MERCY. But at least returned in higher spirits and back home with Elizabeth and his son. (Although I wasn’t at all happy with the way Francis treated my darling Verity!)
Dr. Dwight might have a new love interest in Lady Caroline, who seems quite interested in his medical expertise.
Annnnnnnnd Demelza is pregnant again! When will she tell Ross?
In tonight’s Episode Two (written by Debbie Horsfield, directed by Will Sinclair):
George tries plan B against Ross. Jud pays a steep price for treachery. Francis has a meeting of minds with his cousin. Demelza breaks difficult news. (via PBS)
EEEEEEP! Demelza is going to tell Ross about the pregnancy! And goodness, I really wish George would just leave the Poldarks alone.
Watch this clip from the upcoming show, where Ross is back home and trying to figure about how to make Wheal Leisure profitable. He’s interrupted with a letter about a loan he has coming due:
*SIGH* Ross really is in a bad place. I wish he wouldn’t keep things from Demelza though.
