I’ve been a huge fan of The Fast and the Furious franchise from the very beginning and have fond memories of watching the first film in theaters and when the film came out on DVD, having pizza/movie nights with my besties during senior year of high school.
Who knew that all these years later, we’d still be hooked on the drama and fast, fast cars?! Of course, in Furious 7, we all said our goodbyes to Paul Walker, sending Brian O’Conner driving off into the sunset with a perfect last ride.
The eighth film in the series The Fate of the Furious (and the first without Walker) hits theaters next week and promises a dramatic direction. The last time we were with the Furious crew, it seemed that they would finally be able to settle into a normal, angst-free life.
However, this quickly take a turn when Dom is lured back into the world of crime. And no one, not even Letty, is able to talk him out of it. Now, Mr. Nobody (Kurt Russell) assembles a team of former rivals to try and save Dom and stop the impending chaos!
Check out the synopsis and two trailers from The Fate of the Furious, starring Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Helen Mirren, Nathalie Emmanuel, Elsa Pataky, Scott Eastwood, with Kurt Russell and Charlize Theron!
On the heels of 2015’s Furious 7, one of the fastest movies to reach $1 billion worldwide in box-office history and the sixth-biggest global title of all time, comes the newest chapter in one of the most popular and enduring motion-picture serials of all time: The Fate of the Furious.
Now that Dom and Letty are on their honeymoon and Brian and Mia have retired from the game—and the rest of the crew has been exonerated—the globetrotting team has found a semblance of a normal life. But when a mysterious woman (Oscar® winner Charlize Theron) seduces Dom into the world of crime he can’t seem to escape and a betrayal of those closest to him, they will face trials that will test them as never before.
From the shores of Cuba and the streets of New York City to the icy plains off the arctic Barents Sea, our elite force will crisscross the globe to stop an anarchist from unleashing chaos on the world’s stage…and to bring home the man who made them a family.
For The Fate of the Furious, Vin Diesel is joined by a returning all-star cast that includes Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Elsa Pataky and Kurt Russell. In addition to Theron, the series welcomes newcomers Scott Eastwood and Oscar® winner Helen Mirren. The film is directed by F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton) and produced by returning producers Neal H. Moritz, Michael Fottrell and Diesel. http://www.fastandfurious.com
So here’s the thing… Dom has to be playing the long game, right? He can’t really have gone over to the dark side! What about the family? What about Letty??? When Dom comments that he doesn’t have a choice… things aren’t as they seem!
Also, the fact that Hobbs and Shaw now have to team up is pretty epic. We’ll see how long that lasts!
The Fate of the Furious is out on Friday, April 14 and you can already pre-order your tickets HERE.
