In Marvel’s first teaser trailer for Thor: Ragnarok, the Goddess of Death destroys mjolnir and banishes Thor.
With summer right around the corner, I know many of us are thinking about the upcoming summer blockbusters. Of course Marvel will be contributing to our flails with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (out May 5) and Spider-Man: Homecoming (out July 7).
However, it can’t be too early to start thinking about the highly-anticipated films for the Fall, right? Well, Marvel doesn’t think so because this morning they released the first teaser trailer for Thor: Ragnarok, coming this November!
Early last month, Entertainment Weekly gave us the first taste with an exclusive set of photo stills from the film. We see that Chris Hemsworth’s Thor gets a haircut, and the two newest additions to this universe, Hela (Cate Blanchett) and Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) are especially fierce!
According to EW’s feature:
The latest entry finds Thor battling not only the Goddess of Death, Hela, but also his frenemy the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) when the pair find themselves on a desolate planet called Sakaar. When Hela is accidentally unleashed from her prison, she is not psyched…Her attack on Thor sends him to Sakaar where he is forced to become a gladiator and realizes he’s no longer super special…Case in point: Sakaar’s most successful (and popular) fighter is The Hulk.
So, this is where Bruce has been since the end of Age of Ultron?! For more details about the Ragnarok plot, go HERE.
In the teaser trailer released today, we see that Thor is having a really horrible day. Not only does he learn that Loki has been impersonating Odin (since the end of Thor: The Dark World, but that Hela has been released from her prison. After Thor encounters Hela, she literally crushes mjolnir with her hand (OMG!), binds him in chains, and sends him to Sakaar.
On Sakaar, Thor becomes a gladiator and in the process meets new friends, like Valkyrie, and old friends, like Hulk (who isn’t feeling very friendly). Ultimately, Thor needs to get off Sakaar, find Odin, stop Hela, and save Asgard! Watch below:

I know Ragnarok is supposed to be serious, because OMG-end of the world as we know it, but you can already tell there’s going to be tons of humor! According to EW’s interview with director, Taika Waititi:
The director particularly wanted to show off Hemsworth’s comedic abilities, only recently exploited in films like Vacation and Ghostbusters. “He’s so good and underutilized in that department,” Waititi says. “He’s legitimately one of the funniest things in this film.”

Thor: Ragnarok is out on November 3, 2017. What do you think of the new teaser? Share your thoughts in comments!
