Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency is a very unique series that left viewers with so many questions. Luckily, WSN was able to sit down the cast and producers at SDCC for the scoop on season two!

Season one of Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency was seven episodes long and took viewers on an intense ride that centered around an eccentric detective and supernatural beings.
After Todd Brotzman (Elijah Wood) happens upon a murder scene, he meets self-proclaimed detective, Dirk Gently (Samuel Barnett); and is drawn into a case involving the death of reclusive millionaire, Patrick Spring, and the kidnapping of his daughter Lydia. As multiple characters and storylines seem primed to converge, tangling endlessly in towards the center, it’s clear to Todd that his life will never be the same. {via BBC America}
Season two will expand on the characters and their interactions with each other, but it will be spread out over three different settings and the characters from season one will figure out themselves more and the two new additions to the cast, Alan Tudyk and Tyler Labine, figure out their place in this strange world.

No spoilers was a big deal for the cast as they tried to talk about season two. What we did get out of the cast, starting with Hannah Marks (Amanda Brotzman) and Jade Eshete (Farah Black), was that there will be three locations in the second season.
Windemore which will be “The Narnia of this show.” — Hannah
Black Wing– this was seen a little in the first season. It’s a place that tries to capture people like Dirk, and where Alan Tudyk’s character, Mr. Priest, is hanging around at.
Burnsburg, Montana– is a little town where Tyler Labine’s, Sherlock Hobbs, is from. Labine describes Hobbs as a sheriff that is “very under-challenged and overzealous.”
Marks and Eshete were in full on agreement when asked about the first season that no one should ask them to recap it because it would be almost impossible. There’s so much going on and it lays the groundwork for what they’re able to do with season two…
Which brings us to the whirlwind that is Max Landis (Creator) and Rob Cooper (Showrunner).

It’s a completely new thing. More than anything else, this season is a blueprint for how I wanted the show to work. When you only have one season, it doesn’t show the entire scope of what this show is because the show encompasses everything. It encompasses all genres, all world. It encompasses all tones, and you know when you only have one season of t.v. and eight episodes, you can’t do everything.
He went on to say that season two is showing they can do everything and that this second season is like a new show.
“We make Doctor Who look like Star Wars.”
Well, we certainly can’t wait to see what’s in store now!
Elijah Wood (Todd Brotzman) and Sam Barnett (Dirk Gently) both feel like this season is much easier to follow than season one, and they aren’t having to work on who they are.

About the cast, Elijah Wood says “they’ve already established their characters and know where they going” so it makes this season easier in that regard.
It’s an emotional journey for a lot of characters. Dirk is seeing what the world is and how this is hurting the friends he has made in season one.
Mpho Koaho (Ken) and Fiona Dourif (Bart) went on to say that their favorite part of this season is the monsters. There are so many cool things we’ll get to see in season two, especially since it’s so steeped in magic.
While Alan Tudyk and Tyler Labine (Sherlock Hobbs) spoke about joining the show in two very opposite roles.
“You have a big heart.” Tudyk on Labine’s character
“You have no heart.” Labine on Tudyk’s character
These two will be joining a magical world that full of time travel, monsters, mysterious circumstances, and the unexplained, but they’re up for the job.
