Jamie is back in Lallybroch, but estranged from his family. Meanwhile, Claire and Frank bond over Bree. Get a sneak peek of this week’s Outlander, “Surrender.”

Sassenachs, I’m still deep in my feelings about Outlander‘s Season 3 premiere! I’m so glad that Droughtlander is over and we’re back in this world. However, watching Jamie and Claire suffer through their separation is almost too much to bear. The grief, the loss, the death (RIP Rupert!)… there are so many emotions, and as usual, Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe, Tobias Menzies, and Team Outlander totally hit it out of the park.
I quite enjoyed the post-episode analysis where Showrunner Ronald D. Moore and Executive Producers Toni Graphia and Matthew B. Roberts took us behind the scenes of “The Battle Joined.” They discuss how the episode title is a metaphor for the increasing conflict between Claire and Frank. We also get to see BTS shots of the Battle of Culloden (which took 14 days to shoot with 1,100 extras!), and hear of the ways Sam and Tobias were able to couple intense physicality and great acting to deliver these scenes.
*SIGH*
Well, at least Jamie is alive, despite his best attempts to die, and at least Claire is alive and now has beautiful baby Bree.

In this week’s episode, we find that even though Jamie is back in Lallybroch, he’s still a wanted-man and must live estranged from his family. Meanwhile, despite their best intentions for a new start with Bree, Claire’s and Frank’s relationship deteriorates. In “Surrender” (written by Anne Kenney, directed by Jennifer Getzinger):
Hiding in an isolated cave, Jamie leads a lonely life until Lallybroch is threatened by redcoats pursuing the elusive Jacobite traitor known as “Red Jamie.” Back in Boston, Claire and Frank struggle to coexist in a marriage haunted by the ghost of Jamie’s love. (via STARZ)
Watch this clip from the upcoming show. In it, the Red Coats stationed around Lallybroch question Ian about a local brigand, the Dunbonnet, who they believe to be Red Jamie:
Romper.com has an exclusive clip featuring a moment between Claire and Frank celebrating Baby Bree rolling over all by herself for the first time. It’s a very sweet moment, but made a little awkward because of the sexual tension between them. MarieClaire.com also has an exclusive clip of Jamie with a baby… Jenny has just given birth Wee Ian, and she is trying to encourage Jamie about making a family of his own.
How are we to survive all this heartbreak?! *CRIES*
