Watch the latest mind-bendy trailer from A Wrinkle in Time, where Meg Murray begins her journey to save the world.
This week, Disney released the first official trailer for Ava DuVernay’s highly anticipated blockbuster A Wrinkle in Time (an adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle’s 1963 novel of the same name).
Earlier this summer, DuVernay and the cast debuted a teaser at D23, and this new trailer treats us to even more mind-bendy, stunningly spectacular scenes as Meg embarks on an adventure to save her father and the world.
Full disclosure, I haven’t read the book, but Entertainment Weekly provides a helpful story summary:
Disney’s upcoming fantasy epic about an ordinary teenager named Meg (newcomer Storm Reid) who’s whisked on a cosmic adventure (with her brother Charles Wallace [Deric McCabe] and their friend Calvin [Levi Miller]) to find her missing scientist father (Chris Pine) with the help of three chimerical celestial beings who help her “wrinkle” time and space: philosophizing Mrs. Who (Mindy Kaling), inquisitive Mrs. Whatsit (Reese Witherspoon), and wizened Mrs. Which (Oprah Winfrey).
And, this is exactly where the trailer starts. Meg is struggling in school as she deals with her father’s disappearance. All that’s left of Alex Murray is his research, a new theory about inter-dimensional travel that involves wrinkling time and space. Meg’s suspicious are soon confirmed when Mrs. Which, Mrs. Whatsit, and Mrs. Who arrive with news that Dr. Murray has been trapped. Meg is the only person who can save him.
A Wrinkle in Time will be glorious. This is obviously a story with adventure, where Meg must take her place as a warrior in the quintessential battle between light and dark. At the same time, you can tell that there’s whimsy and humor, too (OHITHERE Zach Galifianakis). I’m in awe of the costumes and creatures, and I’m already in love with the trio of Meg, Charles Wallace, and Calvin. What do you think?!
A Wrinkle in Time hits theaters on March 9, 2018.
