Last night, Howards End‘s stars Hayley Atwell and Matthew Macfadyen attended the red carpet premiere and screening in New York City. Check out photos from the event and after party!

Fellow fans of British (historical) fiction and romance, rejoice, because this weekend, we’ll finally be treated to STARZ’s Howards End mini-series (now, officially a BAFTA nominee)!
Our faves Hayley Atwell and Matthew Macfadyen star in the adaptation of E.M. Forster’s novel, which follows two independent and unconventional sisters seeking love and meaning as they navigate an ever-changing world at the turn of the 20th Century.
Last night, Howards End‘s cast and creators attended the red carpet premiere and screening at New York City’s Whitby Hotel.
Hayley Atwell, Matthew MacFadyen, and Philippa Coulthard were in attendance, along with Writer Kenneth Lonergan and Executive Producer Colin Callender.
They were joined for the red carpet event by Joseph Sikora and Lela Loren, stars of Power (which is returning for its fifth season this summer *EXCITE*).
Following the screening of Howards End‘s premiere episode, attendees were treated to a Q&A (moderated by Derek Blasberg) where Atwell, MacFadyen, Coulthard, Lonergan, and Callender discussed the process of adapting the series from the novel, the themes of humanity and connection during turn-of-the-century England, and more.
After the panel, the Howards End cast attended a cocktail hour, where they were joined for the celebration by Evan Jonigkeit, Eden Epstein, and Stuart Zicherman (showrunner) from STARZ’s upcoming series Sweetbitter (premiering May 6).
Thanks to STARZ, we have 20 images to share from the different parts of last night’s event. Of course, my homegirl Hayley was looking the most fierce! And, I know totally embrace Matthew in this new role, but he will always be my Darcy (even more than Colin Firth. Yeah, I said it. 😉 ).
Watch the Howards End trailer HERE and meet the quirky Schlegel sisters. Then tune in to STARZ this Sunday, April 8 at 8:00pm ET|PT to watch them experience family drama and romance.
Margaret (Hayley Atwell) and Helen Schlegel (Philippa Coulthard) are intelligent and idealistic young women living together with their hypochondriac younger brother Tibby (Alex Lawther) in Edwardian London. Since the death of their parents and despite their interfering Aunt Juley’s (Tracey Ullman) best intentions, the sisters lead independent and slightly unorthodox lives. After meeting the wealthy and conservative Wilcox family on holiday, Margaret forms a friendship with the older and more traditional Ruth Wilcox (Julia Ormond). When Ruth unexpectedly dies, Margaret finds herself increasingly drawn to the newly widowed Henry Wilcox (Matthew Macfadyen), a self-made businessman who inherits his late wife’s beloved country home Howards End. Meanwhile, the passionate and capricious Helen takes up the cause of Leonard Bast (Joseph Quinn), a young bank clerk who is struggling to make ends meet, trapped by his promise to marry his alluring but vulnerable lover Jacky (Rosalind Eleazar).
