Michael B. Jordan, Sylvester Stallone, and Tessa Thompson reprise their roles in CREED II… and Drago is coming! Check out the new trailer and poster.
During Thanksgiving Weekend 2015, I joined my siblings and cousins at our local movie theater to watch CREED. We are huge Rocky fans, courtesy of our Dad’s influence, and were really excited about the chance to see the story continue, this time through the lens of Adonis.
Michael B. Jordan is so compelling as Adonis Johnson (the son of Apollo Creed), as he struggles with his father’s legacy and trying to make his own name in the boxing world. For me, I am most impressed with Sylvester Stallone’s performance. Rocky Balboa settles into what seems like a lonely life as a restaurant owner in Philly. The loss of his trainer Mickey (in ROCKY III) still weighs on him, now compounded by his wife Adrian’s death and being estranged from his son, Robert. Rocky seemed ready to give up on life, but when Donnie shows up to request his help to train him, things change. The Rocky/Adonis relationship was beautiful, as was Donnie’s relationship with his step-mother (Apollo’s wife Mary-Anne, played by Phylicia Rashad) and the romance with his neighbor Bianca (Tessa Thompson).
Plus, in the end, Adonis faces a ROCKY-style David/Goliath fight, that ends with him winning the respect of his opponent. I LOVE IT and Ryan Coogler did the damn thing!
So, you better believe I’m absolutely thrilled that the CREED II trailer is out!
CREED II began production in April in Philadelphia, with Michael B. Jordan, Sylvester Stallone, and Tessa Thompson reprise their roles. This time, Steven Caple Jr. is directing; however Ryan Coogler remains on board as Executive Producer.
The sequel follows Adonis, still in Philly and building a family with Bianca. However, he and Rocky are confronted with a blast from the past that triggers all the pain of losing Apollo. Check out the trailer:
DRAGO.
All I know is that Donnie can’t die. And I’m so not ready to see Ivan Drago OR his son.
CREED II hits theaters on November 21, 2018 and we can’t wait!

Life has become a balancing act for Adonis Creed. Between personal obligations and training for his next big fight, he is up against the challenge of his life. Facing an opponent with ties to his family’s past only intensifies his impending battle in the ring. Rocky Balboa is there by his side through it all and, together, Rocky and Adonis will confront their shared legacy, question what’s worth fighting for, and discover that nothing’s more important than family. Creed II is about going back to basics to rediscover what made you a champion in the first place, and remembering that, no matter where you go, you can’t escape your history.
