STARZ unveiled the new Americana-themed opening title credits for Outlander Season 4! Plus, watch our favorite cast and creators preview the new season for us during their New York Comic-Con panel.
This weekend is New York Comic-Con, and as promised, Team Outlander is making a huge splash and helping to get fans even more excited for the upcoming!
In addition to an epic replica of Fraser’s Ridge on the convention room floor and tons of cool swag, Ronald D. Moore (executive producer), Maril Davis (executive producer), Diana Gabaldon (author), Caitriona Balfe (Claire Randall Fraser), Sam Heughan (Jamie Fraser), Sophie Skelton (Brianna Randall) and Richard Rankin (Roger Wakefield) we on hand for an autograph signing and panel (moderated by EW’s Lola Ogunnaike).
Before the actual panel, STARZ surprised fans with an unannounced, first look screening of the premiere episode of Season 4, which was introduced by surprise guest, Diana Gabaldon. I have to say I’m super jealous, but I promise its a happy kind of jealous and I can’t wait to see more of the non-spoilery, flaily reactions!
But because Team Outlander loves us, they also released a sneak peek of the new opening title credits, which showcases an updated rendition of the beloved series theme song and new footage from the forthcoming season, all set in Colonial America! One of the things I adore about this show is how the credits change to match Claire’s and Jamie’s locales. And truth be told, Bear McCreary continues to blow us away, this time with bluesy-folksy harmonies that make we want to set up camp in the North Carolina wilds and never leave. Check it out here:
And during the panel, cast and creators talked about what we can expect in the upcoming season, including watching Claire and Jamie build a life together in the American colonies, as well as the ongoing development of Bree’s relationship with Roger. Team Outlander also played a game called “Outlander, Outlandish, and Out of Bounds,” which gets pretty fun. You can watch (and re-watch!) below:
Sassenachs, we’re getting so close! Team WSN will be bringing you all the Outlander Season 4 goodness, including our weekly episode reviews on our YouTube series, WSN REVIEWS! Watch our reviews from Season 3 for a refresher and to get ready for Season 4.
Season Four of “Outlander” continues the story of time-traveling 20th century doctor Claire Fraser and her 18th century Highlander husband Jamie Fraser, as they try to make a home for themselves in colonial America. As Claire and Jamie build their lives together in the rough and dangerous back country of North Carolina, they must negotiate a tenuous loyalty to the current British ruling class, despite Claire’s knowledge of the American Revolution to come. Along the way, the Frasers cross paths with notorious pirate and smuggler Stephen Bonnet in a fateful meeting that will come back to haunt the Fraser family. Meanwhile in the 20th century, things are complicated between Brianna Randall, Claire and Jamie’s daughter, and Roger Wakefield, the historian who helped Claire search for Jamie in the past. But when Roger and Brianna search for proof that Brianna’s parents reunited in the 18th century, a shocking discovery makes both of them consider following in Claire’s footsteps.
The fourth season of “Outlander” will include 13 episodes based upon “Drums of Autumn”, the fourth of the eight books in Diana Gabaldon’s international best-selling series. Additionally, the series has been renewed for two more seasons, taking it through season six.
