This week, when Jamie and Claire meet Auntie Jocasta at River Run, they’re confronted with the potential of being on the wrong side of history AGAIN. Watch a sneak peek of “Do No Harm”!
Sassenachs, Outlander‘s fourth season started off with a bang, and by the end of “America the Beautiful,” the major adventures and conflicts for the season had been set into motion. What we loved most about the episode, was the unabashed optimism. It was wonderful to see Jamie and Claire fully together and ready to start their lives in a new place. Jamie’s 24 year wedding anniversary to Claire was perfect and that moment between them was so lovely and well-deserved… as were the glorious sexy times! These two were surrounded by family and friends, and found out the clan was about to get bigger with the addition of a Fersali bairn!
There were also emotional moments as Jamie helped Ian to negotiate the PTSD of his sexual assault, as well as Gavin Hayes’ hanging, which shook them all to the core. But, for us, what was most disconcerting was the introduction of that no-good, raggedy bitch Stephen Bonnet. Throughout the episode, even as a non-book reader, one could just tell that something wasn’t right. What kind of man intrudes on an intimate moment between two friends saying goodbye to grab a drink of run for himself? What kind of man uses the anguish of a hanging to escape his own punishment? What kind of man sneaks away in another’s burial shroud? Stephen Bonnet does. And all along, he used Jamie’s and Claire’s sincerity and honor against them… so by those final moments, with Ray Charles singing “America the Beautiful” in the background, when Bonnet and his men lead a brutal attack on the Frasers as they were traveling up river, we saw the fullness of Bonnet’s sociopathy. Unfortunately, I have a feeling that this will not be the last he crosses our paths.

Alas, the journey must continue. In this Sunday’s episode, “Do No Harm” (written by Karen Campbell, directed by Julian Holmes):
Claire and Jamie visit his Aunt Jocasta at her plantation, River Run. When tragedy strikes at the plantation, Jamie and Claire find themselves caught between what’s right and the law of the land, ultimately facing an impossible decision. (via STARZ)
We’re finally going to meet Auntie Jocasta, y’all! I’ve been so excited for this moment, particularly because River Run is where Claire is really confronted with potentially being on the wrong side of history AGAIN. In this clip from the upcoming episode, we get a glimpse at the emotional reunion between Jamie and his aunt:
Yes, we are all family. But, can we have a debrief about what happened with Bonnet?! Also, when are we going to come to the present to catch up with Bree and Roger? Just curious.
We’ve got 10 images from “Do No Harm”, which show us a little of what life is like at River Run. Take a look, then make sure to live tweet the new episode with us at 8p/9c this Sunday (November 11) on STARZ!
