It’s been a week since Outlander‘s midseason finale aired, and I’m still having lots of feelings about the episode! I know this is a very unpopular opinion, but I like seeing what Frank (Tobias Menzies) is up to in the aftermath of Claire’s (Caitriona Balfe) disappearance, even though he’s not doing well at all. But to be honest, we as an audience deserve the opportunity to watch Frank grieve and eventually try to move on (when he leaves Claire’s suitcase behind in Inverness!!!!!!!).
In addition, we get some great Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire moments, even though those sweet and sexy times are followed by not so nice things (stupid red coat deserters and Black Jack Randall!). And speaking of BJR…that ending–Claire prostrate on the table, Jamie prepared to do battle to save her, and BJR cackling like a lunatic in the background–HAVE MERCY! 6 months is quite awhile to wait for episode 9, but I have no doubt that it’ll be worth it. Also, I have a strong feeling that STARZ won’t keep us hanging during the hiatus: we might even start to hear some news about season 2!
Check out this new interview where Sam, Cait, and Executive Producer Ron Moore talk to TV Guide about why Jamie and Claire’s love story is so epic and the evolution of the bond between the two characters:
I love how engaged Sam and Cait are with their characters! They totally get what makes Jamie and Claire tick, just like we do!
