At this point I’m convinced that no one can make an announcement the way Marvel does! Starting around 2:00pmET today, it felt like the world was honed in on the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood. At that time, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige was hosting a special event to announce the full slate for Marvel Studios’ Phase 3. And, let me tell you, the Marvel Cinematic Universe just got a whole lot bigger!

You can see in the timeline above that we have nine (NINE!!!!!!) new Marvel films heading our way between May 2016 and May 2019. This now makes the full list of upcoming titles and release dates the following:
Avengers: Age of Ultron–May 1, 2015
Ant-Man–July 17, 2015
Captain America: Civil War–May 6, 2016
Doctor Strange–Nov. 4, 2016
Guardians of the Galaxy 2–May 5, 2017
Thor: Ragnarok–July 28, 2017
Black Panther–Nov. 3, 2017
Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1–May 4, 2018
Captain Marvel–July 6, 2018
Inhumans–Nov. 2, 2018
Avengers: Infinity War – Part 2-May 3, 2019 (via TIME)
As if that wasn’t enough, Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans joined Kevin Feige on-stage to announce the official title of the third Captain America film, Captain America: Civil War. The film centers on a conflict between Captain America and Iron Man about the best way to govern the superhero community. They also introduced Chadwick Boseman, who will play the Black Panther, first as a significant part of Captain America: Civil War, and then in a standalone film to be released in November 2017!

There is so much to be excited about! I’m particularly looking forward to learning more details about Carol Danvers as Captain Marvel and the two-part Avengers finale. And of course, the idea of Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston reuniting in the third Thor film gives me all the happy, flaily feels!
Make sure to head over to Marvel to find out what we already know about each of the new films and to see some of the new concept art.
Which part of today’s news were you most excited to hear? Do you have any casting ideas for the new superheroes and supervillains coming our way?
