Stephanie Meyer launches “The Storytellers –New Creative Voices of The Twilight Saga” campaign.
Last month we reported some pretty awesome Twilight news! Stephanie Meyer and Lionsgate are teaming up with Facebook, Women In Film, and Tongal to launch “The Storytellers–New Creative Voices of The Twilight Saga.” This is a social media campaign which will develop and produce a series of short films based on characters from the Twilight universe and directed by aspiring female filmmakers.
Yesterday, MTV posted an exclusive video with Stephanie Meyer and some of the female panelists/mentors to launch the campaign and talk about why “now is the time for women.” Take a look at the video below, which features Kristen Stewart (Twilight, Camp X-Ray), Octavia Spencer (The Help, Divergent Series: Insurgent), Jennifer Lee (Frozen), and more. Also, pay special attention to the middle of the video where we also hear directly from Twilight fans about why they’re excited for Storytellers and some of their ideas:
Like I mentioned before, I love the idea of promoting female voices in film. This campaign is a great way to provide opportunities for aspiring female filmmakers while giving TwiFans the chance to revisit this world we love.
Head over to the campaign’s website now to read more about how you can get involved. Right now, we’re in the middle of Phase 1, the “Character Voting” phase. So make sure to vote for the Twilight character you’d most like to see featured in one of the new short films!
