HBO orders Westworld to series that will air in 2015.
I’m so excited that HBO is turning Westworld into a one-hour drama TV series. Westworld (2015) “is a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin (via HBO Press Release)” and is based off the 1973 film with the same name. Westworld (1973) was written and directed by Michael Crichton and was a science fiction Western where a robot terrorized the guests of a Western-themed amusement park. The film starred Yul Brynner as Gunslinger the robot, James Brolin and Richard Benjamin. The HBO TV series that will air in 2015 isn’t lacking any star power either. The cast includes Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Miranda Otto, Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Angela Sarafyan, and Simon Quarterman. Westworld Executive Producers include J.J. Abrams, Jerry Weintraub, and Bryan Burk. Lisa Joy is listed as Writer on the series and will join the Executive Producer team along with her husband, Jonathan Nolan, who is also listed as the series Writer and Director.
HBO has already begun a fierce social media campaign and created promo Vines for Westworld. Two can be seen below:
