Sneak peek of tonight’s Grey’s Anatomy winter finale, “Risk,” airing at 8:00pmET on ABC.
In last week’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy, things get pretty intense for some of our favorite characters. Right at the beginning, Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) is confronted be a member of her Narcotics Anonymous group (Sarah, played by Jessica Gardner) and totally outed in front of colleagues. It’s brutal to watch–part of me understands Sarah’s concern about wanting her mother in the best hands possible. On the other hand, Amelia doesn’t deserve to have her dirty laundry aired like that.
And the most difficult thing to see is how Derek (Patrick Dempsey) seems a bit hesitant to help Amelia out. Later on, Derek admits that he hesitated to speak up for Amelia because he wants to be chief of neurosurgery again. He apologizes, but it’s still a shame.
One of the things I’ve loved most this season has been the way Derek consistently encourages Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) to open up to Maggie (Kelly McCreary). Over and over again he says that family is important. But it’s like Derek isn’t walking the walk when it comes to his own family. I’m really hoping Amelia and Derek are able to patch things up, especially since it’s clear that he wants to protect her.
And even though I’ve been annoyed with Dr. Herman (Geena Davis) in the past, I also feel for her having to deal with cancer. When that is revealed, her fervor about teaching Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) makes so much sense. They really bond in this episode, particularly as they realize Arizona’s experience as a pediatric surgeon coupled with Dr. Herman’s fetal surgery knowledge will make Arizona an incredibly formidable doctor.
Finally, seeing Mer and Maggie connect at the end of the episode makes me really happy. I like that Maggie got to confess that she wants a relationship with Mer, and that Mer brings her into the fold of their exclusive drinking club. All in all, “Could We Start Again, Please?” is an intense episode with several heartfelt moments.
Tonight’s Grey’s Anatomy‘s episode, “Risk,” is the winter finale, and Mer and Maggie continue to team up:
Maggie and Meredith join forces on a case, but their approach clashes with Derek’s. Elsewhere, one of the patients in the veterans project is pushed too far, and Callie blames herself; and a routine procedure leads to a heartbreaking diagnosis. (via TV Guide)
Take a look at these two clips from tonight’s show. In the first video, Derek is approached by the President’s special assistant to discuss the brain mapping initiative. And in the second clip, Edwards (Jerrika Hinton) is giving April (Sarah Drew) her sonogram. Things start out a little awkward, but we see that there’s some potential for concern:
YIKES! I love JApril, so I really hope everything will be alright with the baby.
As usual, this Grey’s finale is probably going to make us feel every single feeling. Check out these photo stills from the episode, and make sure to tune into ABC at 8:00pmET for the Grey’s Anatomy winter finale show.
