State of Affairs, episode 3, “Half the Sky” airs tonight at 10 PM ET|PT on NBC. Below is a sneak peek into the episode 3 including the promo and photo stills.
I’m really enjoying State of Affairs and the first two episodes have drawn me in. Plus it’s great to Katherine Heigl and Alfre Woodward back on TV in such kick ass roles. Sadly, the ratings for the second episode went down and I hope episode 3, “Half the Sky” we will get a ratings bump that State of Affairs deserves.
Last week in “Secret and Lies,” we got a bit more insight into the home life of President Payton (Alfre Woodard). We met President Payton’s husband, Marshall Payton (Courtney B. Vance) and we get to see how close these individuals are even though Aaron Payton (Mark Tallman), the Payton’s son and Charlie Tucker’s (Katherine Heigl) fiancé was murder while with Charlie on assignment. Nick Vera (Chris L. McKenna) continues to bring more drama to Charlie’s life by making her question how well she knew her asset Omar Fatah (Farshad Farahat) who supposedly was responsible Aaron’s death. Also, we see that President Payton has appointed a new CIA director, Ray Navarro (Nestor Carbonell). All the while these happenings are wrapped around the story of a Russian submarine that is stranded holding stolen U.S. secrets with one CIA asset on board to protect them. “Secret and Lies” was riveting and lets us know that State of Affairs will pull no punches with their story lines.
In tonight’s episode, which guest stars Nestor Carbonell, Chris L. McKenna, Courtney B. Vance, James Remar, Farshad Farahat, Christopher Michael Holley, and Hakeem Kae-Kazim:
Charlie has flashbacks of her arrival at Midnight City where she first met Nick and witnessed him brutally interrogate Fatah. When members of the militant Islamist movement Boko Haram kidnap 21 Nigerian girls, President Payton tasks Charlie with the logistically impossible — to find and save the girls without Nigeria knowing the U.S. was ever involved. Meanwhile, President Payton hosts the Chinese president (Tzi Ma) at Camp David and realizes that she can use their trade talks to get something she really wants. (via NBC)
