For December’s 4 Droughtlander, STARZ gives us an extended clip from “The Garrison Commander,” featuring a deleted Claire/Frank flashback.
Since STARZ started 4 Droughtlander in November, we Outlander fans will always eagerly count down to the 4th of each month. And with the pic-tease we received yesterday, all signs pointed to a particularly good Droughtlander treat. Well, the wait is over, my friends! Outlander_Starz just shared the December 4 Droughtlander exclusive and it sure is worth that wait!
In the 4:30 minute video, Executive Producer Ron Moore introduces the exclusive clip, an alternate ending to episode 106 “The Garrison Commander.” He talks about how this deleted scene features an extended Claire (Caitriona Balfe)/Frank (Tobias Menzies) flashback with more voice-over from Claire. Actually, when you watch, you won’t hear Cait’s voice, but rather, temporary voice-over from Post-Production Producer Alicia Bessette. Ron says that ultimately, they decided to cut the flashback scene because they wanted to move the ending of the episode along more quickly.
The clip begins with Claire and Jamie (Sam Heughan) discussing Dougal’s (Graham McTavish) proposition that they get married. If you’ll recall, Dougal has just saved Claire from Black Jack Randall’s abuse and has come to the conclusion that she isn’t a spy. And then we hear one of my FAVORITE lines in the series so far:
Claire: “Doesn’t it bother you that I’m not a virgin?”
Jamie: “No, as long as it doesn’t bother you that I am…One of us should probably ken what they’re doing.”
*DIES*
In the new material, we see Claire considering the merits of marrying Jamie and how it would be easier to eventually escape to Craigh na Dun. We eventually get the deleted scene of the Claire/Frank flashback: they’re sitting at a dock in Inverness talking about how they survived the war apart, but expressing how glad they are to be together now. Check it out below:
“No matter what happens, I will always be your wife.” *sigh*
What did you think about the deleted/extended scene? Do you think production was right to cut it from the episode? Let us know in comments!
Happy December 4 Droughtlander and remember, we’re in the midst of the 25 days of Outlander Offerings, so make sure to come back to see what other goodies we get!
