Get a sneak peek of Once Upon a Time‘s season 4 winter finale “Heroes and Villains,” airing at 8:00pmET tonight on ABC.
Last week’s episode of Once Upon a Time ended a lot differently than I thought it would. The Spell of Shattered Sight had descended on Storybrooke, and we definitely saw our faves at their worst. Snow (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Charming (Josh Dallas) were at each other’s throats with Anna (Elizabeth Lail) trying to encourage them to remember their love. Regina (Lana Parrilla) embraced her Evil Queen persona and gowns, and looked pretty fierce while doing so. Then there was that Regina/Snow epic face-off, via sword-fight.
Even Henry (Jared Gilmore) was less than his usual sweet-self. When Killian (Colin O’Donoghue) came to retrieve Henry so Rumple (Robert Carlyle) could escape Storybrooke with his wife and grandson, Henry made it very clear that he’d never approved of Hook’s relationship with Emma (Jennifer Morrison) In fact, he had no intentions of going anywhere with a “dirty pirate” (LOL!).
I enjoyed the flashbacks to Ingrid (Elizabeth Mitchell) and Emma in 1999. It was interesting to see that they were actually quite close during Emma’s time at the group home. Unfortunately, Ingrid pushed her too far and too soon by trying to activate Emma’s magic, causing her to run away.
However, Ingrid/Snow Queen was determined to have her new family at all costs, and it seemed like she was about to win. Who knew it would be Anna that saved the day?! That letter from Elsa (Georgina Haig) and Anna’s mother was heartbreaking, but so moving. I did NOT expect Ingrid to sacrifice herself to end the Shattered Sight Spell…it seemed like a pretty quick about-face. With that said, I’m glad Ingrid was able to regain her sisters’ love and is finally in peace. The show ended in a wonderfully uplifing way with reunions, hugs, kisses, and apologies. BUT, Rumple was still on the loose, and not happy that his plans have been thrawrted.
In tonight’s episode, the mid-season finale, “Heroes and Villains”:
Anna and Elsa return home and Regina faces a tough choice in the wake of the Snow Queen’s spell. Meanwhile, Gold’s quest puts Hook’s fate in jeopardy; and back in the past, an intrusion at Rumplestiltskin’s castle has repercussions for the future. (via TV Guide)
Check out these two sneak peeks from the show. In the first clip, now that Auntie Ingrid’s spells have been broken, Elsa, Anna, and Kristoff are trying to get back to Arendelle, especially since Hans and his brothers are still on the loose. In the second video, Rumple is upset that the Snow Queen backed out of her plan, which makes his plan to sever himself from the dagger and escape from Storybrooke more difficult. All the while, Rumple now has to avoid Anna, who’s still in town and knows about his plans for the sorcerer’s hat. We all now know that Anna and Belle (Emilie de Ravin) know one another, so would Anna tell Belle the truth about Rumple?
Oh no! Can we please find a way to save Killian from Rumple’s evil plans??? Now that we don’t have to worry about the Snow Queen, surely Emma will be able to find a way to help him! And I don’t know about you, but I don’t think I’m ready to let go of our Frozen friends yet!
