HBO is breaking ground and bringing Game of Thrones to IMAX – YES PLEASE!
Beginning on January 23, 2015 for an exclusive one-week engagement HBO‘s Game of Thrones will be presented in IMAX®. HBO is breaking ground and will become the first television network to feature a program in IMAX theatres. In this highly anticipated event, two digitally re-mastered episodes from season four (episode 9, “The Watchers on the Wall” and episode 10, “The Children”) of Games of Thrones will show, followed by an exclusive IMAX created sneak peek trailer for season five. The one-week event will go through January 29, 2015 in approximately 150 IMAX theatres. Shortly fans can visit imax.com for more information and to purchase tickets.
Episode Synopses
Episode nine, “The Watchers on the Wall,” takes place entirely at The Wall with the Night’s Watch hopelessly outnumbered as they attempt to defend Castle Black from the Wildings and features one the fiercest and most intense battle scenes ever filmed for television. Episode 10, the season finale entitled “The Children,” features Dany coming to grips with the realities of ruling a kingdom, Bran learning the startling reality of his destiny and Tyrion facing the truth of his unfortunate situation. The idea that George R. R. Martin’s works were turned into a TV series was fantastic, but to now see two of those episodes and the trailer for the upcoming season in IMAX is mind-blowing.
