On February 3, Tongal, Lionsgate, and Women in Film will announce the top 5 “Twilight Stories” screenplays, which will then move on to the “Director’s Pitch” stage.
Earlier this month, Twilight fans helped select the 20 screenplay outline finalists for the “Twilight Storytellers–New Creative Voices of The Twilight Saga” campaign! Since then, those 20 finalists have received $500 and the opportunity to write a full (4 to 15) page screenplay, based on their outline.
Well, those screenplays have now been submitted to the “Twilight Short Film Project” judges, and according to Lionsgate, Tongal will announce the top 5 screenplays on Tuesday, February 3!
When these 5 are announced, the next stage will open things up to female directors. Film makers will be asked to select one of the 5 screenplays and submit a pitch to the judges panel convincing them about why they should be selected to execute the short film.
How exciting! Since Stephanie Meyer launched the Twilight Stories campaign, I know we’ve all been anticipating the opportunity to see which stories would be translated to short film. This excitement shows because, since the launch, the Twilight Storytellers campaign has received over half a million views on Tongal and now holds the record for the most participation EVER for a single project on that platform! This accomplishment feels even more noteworthy when you consider that all project submissions came from women.
Take some time to refresh your memory of the 20 screenplay finalists—-below, you can see the title and summary of each story, the screenwriter, and the main Twilight character featured. Which screenplay would you most like to see selected by the judges? Share your thoughts in comments!
