It’s independence time! Get your sneak peek into the conclusion of the Sons of Liberty mini-series airing tonight on HISTORY at 9 PM (ET/PT).
Tonight the HISOTRY Sons of Liberty three-night, six-hour event concludes with, “Independence.” The official synopsis from HISTORY states, “Paul Revere’s (Michael Raymond-James) ride allows Sam Adams (Ben Barnes) and John Hancock (Rafe Spall) to escape capture, but it sets off the battles of Lexington and Bunker Hill. What started as insurrection in the streets of Boston has evolved into a full-scale revolution. The British lock down the city and prepare for all-out war as the colonists, led by the Sons of Liberty, surround Boston. Desperate for help, Sam and John Adams (Henry Thomas), along with Hancock, travel to Philadelphia for the Second Continental Congress, hoping to convince the rest of the colonies that the time is now to rally for independence. George Washington (Jason O’Mara) is made head of the Continental Army and sent to retake Boston. He negotiates to allow the British, led by General Gage (Marton Csokas), to flee the city – but what Washington doesn’t know is that the general has already sent for hundreds of British warships that are on their way to the New World. For Sam Adams and the rest of the Sons of Liberty, it is now or never. They need to swing the vote in Congress to independence or risk losing everything. Sam gives a rousing speech, and his fate and the fate of the country come down to one final vote. It is a vote that changes everything: a vote for independence.”
