Synopsis and brief sneak peek of Scandal season 4, episode 10 “Run.” The mid-season premiere airs on January 29 at 9:00pm ET|PT on ABC.
Think back to the Olivia Pope’s (Kerry Washington) last two minutes during Scandal‘s mid-season finale: after almost (but not really) shooting Papa Pope (Joe E. Morton), Rowan had finally removed himself from Liv’s world. She’d also helped Cyrus (Jeff Perry) to solve his predicament with Michael (Matthew Del Negro), the gigolo—after an oddly uplifting shouting match featuring a few “bitch-babies,” Cyrus and Michael announced their engagement and he returned to the White House as Chief of Staff.
Meanwhile, Quinn (Katie Lowes) had convinced Charlie (George Newbern) to hand over evidence proving that Papa Pope had Jerry (Dylan Minnette) murdered; Huck (Guillermo Diaz) once again reached out to his former wife to try and persuade her that he didn’t willingly abandon his family; and Mellie (Bellamy Young) realized that VP Andrew (Jon Tenney) wasn’t really being faithful in their affair (a bit of an oxymoron, but still!).
So Liv was back in her apartment after a rude awakening from her mother, eating pizza, drinking wine, having a dance party and celebrating Team Olivia. She was going to have Vermont with Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) and stand in the sun with Jake (Scott Foley) and be free from her meddling parents. And then in 25 seconds, everything changed.
I’ve made no secret of the fact that I’m Team Fitzlivia, but I have to say that I feel so bad from Jake in those seconds when he realizes that Liv is gone. I can totally see him feeling a sense of guilt for not protecting Liv after making some pretty big promises to her. Speaking of guilt, you know Fitz is going to feel responsible for the kidnapping, especially after Andrew revealed his plan to force Fitz to go to war with West Angola.
So who is Andrew working for/with? Where in the world is Liv? Might her disappearance offer an opportunity for Fitz, Jake, and maybe even Papa Pope to join forces?
Well, in tonight’s episode “Run”:
The winter premiere picks up right where the finale left off, this time from Olivia’s point of view. Exactly what happened when Jake went to the bedroom? Who took Olivia and where did she go? The fight of Olivia’s life will begin on the January return of “Scandal.” (via ABC)
This sounds so ominous! We know that, unlike previous mid-season premieres, there won’t be any time jump. Yet, the brief sneak peek that’s aired on ABC doesn’t make things seem any better for Liv. She’s grabbed from her home by a masked intruder and then we see a glimpse of her, wild-haired and frightened, running down a hallway:
Besides this brief flash and promises of “OMG” moments from Shonda Rhimes, Scandal cast members, and various members of the press on twitter, we don’t really know what else to expect. But I have complete faith that this will be an episode we won’t soon forget. What do you think we can expect?
Make sure to tune into ABC at 9:00pm ET|PT from the new Scandal and join me over on twitter to live tweet while we watch!
