Will Dre and Bow be able to have a fight-free Valentine’s Day? Preview black-ish season 1, episode 13 “Big Night, Big Fight” with video and photo sneak peeks. The new episode airs tonight at 9:31pm ET|PT on ABC.
One thing I love about black-ish is their commitment to giving us hilarious, holiday-themed episodes! The last new episode, “Martin Luther sKiing Day” didn’t hold back, as Dre (Anthony Anderson) was determined to ensure that the kids understood the importance of Dr. King’s contributions to African-American history. Of course, these lessons were interspersed with well-placed commentary on stereotypes. And by the end, when Junior (Marcus Scribner) articulated his dream of snowboarders and skiers being treated equally at the resort, Dre felt pretty good about Junior’s ability to recognize and stand up to injustice.
After a four week hiatus, black-ish is back tonight with an all new, Valentine’s Day episode that (as usual) is guaranteed to make us cackle with laughter. In “Big Night, Big Fight,” written by Vijal Patel and directed by Rebecca Asher:
Although Dre and Rainbow find they always end up quarreling on their annual Valentine’s Day date, this time around, Dre is determined to do everything right and keep the peace. Meanwhile, Diane realizes she may not have received many Valentine’s cards because she is too critical, so her siblings decide to teach her how to give a compliment. (via ABC)
Take a look at this clip from tonight’s show. Dre and Bow (Tracee Ellis Ross) are a bit annoyed with each other—from Bow’s clothing choices, the proper pronunciation of “Valentine,” and Dre’s lack of spontaneity, anything is up for argument. But Dre really wants to have a V-Day without a fight and tries to convince Bow to give him a do-over:
*giggles* Dre’s justification of “Valen-time’s” does make a little sense.
