Powerful scenes between Cookie and guest star Courtney Love will surely be had in tonight’s episode of Empire airing on FOX at 9 PM (ET/PT).
Last week’s Empire, Season 1, Episode 5: “Dangerous Bonds,” had me wishing that Cookie Lyon (Taraji P. Henson) could run my life sans the hit men, drug running, and dealing with the Feds. Cookie, as the kids may still say, was on FIRE! In one day, Cookie testified before a grand jury, set-up a hit in Philadelphia, got Tiana (Serayah) squared away with her feature in Hakeem’s (Bryshere Y. Gray) music video after Andre (Trai Byers) and Rhonda Lyon (Kaitlin Doubleday) leaked videos of her making out with her model girlfriend India (Elizabeth Whitson) at photo shoot, and came in fix the arrangement for Jamal’s (Jussie Smollett) demo. If I was Cookie, the moment I thought my life was in danger I would have stopped functioning. And since Cookie is better than us all, this is why she is truly the star of Empire and should be the one running Empire Entertainment.
Empire, “Dangerous Minds,” had other important moments like Lucious (Terrence Howard) proposing marriage to Anika (Grace Gealey) for a mix of love and to have her physician father secure him a placement in a selective research trail for ALS patients. Watching Anika’s father and Lucious haggle over their upcoming marriage, truly looked like she was being sold to the highest bidder. Now her father is sitting next to Lucious on my list of characters I will never like. Hakeem was being the simple being that he is. He had a fit when he found out that Tiana had a girlfriend. This is quite hypocritical since Hakeem is still sleeping with Camilla (Naomi Campbell). But all the awards for the best villains of the episode go to Andre and Rhonda Lyon, not only did they set-up Tiana, they masterfully made it appear that Hakeem had sent one of his cronies to rob Jamal at the recording studio. This attempted robbery resulted in Hakeem getting his behind whupped by Jamal.
Lucious asks Cookie to manage Elle Dallas (Courtney Love), Empire Entertainment’s first label star, who hasn’t produced an album in years. Meanwhile, Vernon is caught in the middle of a very sticky situation. Then, as Jamal rises to stardom, his newfound drive and ambition stirs up trouble in his relationships. To make matters worse, a mystery woman (Raven-Symoné) from the family’s past shows up with a huge surprise. Also, Lucious hires Malcom (Derek Luke) to be the new head of security at Empire Entertainment. (via FOX)
