The Slap is an eight-episode miniseries based on an Australian television series and book by Christos Tsiolkas, both titled The Slap. In the NBC miniseries Hector (Peter Sarsgaard) is about to celebrate his 40th birthday. To honor him and his life, his wife Aisha (Thandie Newton), hosts a party filled with his friends and lively Greek family. During the celebration Hector’s cousin, Harry (Zachary Quinto), slaps another couple’s child for misbehaving. The party is thrown into chaos and the parent’s of the child threaten legal action. This event will be the catalyst for long-buried secrets to be revealed and bring about discussion regarding individuals moral and core values.
The Slap is from writer/executive producer Jon Robin Baitz, executive producers Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald and executive producer Lisa Cholodenko, who also directs the miniseries. In the pilot episode titled, “Hector,” airing tonight on NBC at 8PM (ET/PT) and 7PM Central:
Aisha and Hector host a backyard birthday party to celebrate his 40th—Unfortunately, the party is anything but celebratory, as Hector wrestles with his attraction to the teenage babysitter, Connie (Makenzie Leigh), and his cousin Harry slaps a child who is not his own. (via NBC)
