What’s the next step for Jackson, April, and their baby? Preview tonight’s Grey’s Anatomy season 11, episode 11 “All I Could Do Was Cry” with video and photo sneak peeks. The new show airs at 8:00pm ET|PT on ABC.
Goodness, the title of tonight’s Grey’s Anatomy is so apt because, since we came back from hiatus, I’ve been crying and mourning as several of our favorite characters were backed up against the wall.
Last week’s episode “The Bed’s Too Big Without You” was particularly heartfelt considering the situation Jackson (Jesse Williams) and April (Sarah Drew) were in. After an exam to determine the severity of their unborn baby’s illness, April’s mom (Connie Ray) showed up to offer support as they awaited the results. For Jackson, terminating the pregnancy was an option still on the table, especially if it meant preventing the baby from living a life of suffering. On the other hand, April, supported by her mom, chose to rely on her faith. She believed that if God chose to give them a special-needs baby, she and Jackson, as doctors, would be prepared to handle any complication. By the end of the episode, we were pretty certain that the baby’s disease was severe and necessitated the “big guns.”
Elsewhere, Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) was preparing the best strategies for removing Dr. Herman’s (Geena Davis) brain tumor; Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Maggie (Kelly McCreary) teamed up to use the 3D printer to tackle a case of a particularly aggressive tumor. And happily (for me), Maggie became Mer’s new person.
In tonight’s episode “All I Could Do Was Cry,” written by Elizabeth J.B. Klaviter, directed by Ron Underwood, and guest starring Geena Davis and Debbie Allen (Dr. Catherine Avery):
After several discussions with Dr. Herman, April and Jackson must face their situation head on and make a difficult decision regarding their unborn child. Catherine arrives in Seattle and bumps into Richard at the hospital. Meanwhile, Meredith tries to find someone to take care of the kids so she can visit Derek for the weekend, and Amelia shows Stephanie some tough love when they work together on a case. (via ABC)
Take a look at this clip from the upcoming show. Jackson, who isn’t particularly religious, turns to prayer, pleading for God to “show up” for April and their baby:
Goodness, this is emotional…so many tears! Although, I did chuckle a bit at “E.T.”
