If Meredith didn’t spend her weekend sexcation with Derek, who was she really with? Preview tonight’s Grey’s Anatomy “The Great Pretender” with video and photo sneak peeks. The new show airs at 8:00pm ET|PT on ABC.
In last week’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy “All I Could Do Was Cry,” three moments/developments stood out to me and brought on feelings of despair, but also hope and serious curiosity.
Jackson (Jesse Williams) and April (Sarah Drew) finally decided to induce April’s pregnancy and give birth to their son (which unfortunately meant the baby would not survive). With that said, this was a difficult decision for both of them to make. April repeatedly questioned her faith and the purpose of God’s plan. Conversely, sympathy and desperation for his wife drove Jackson to pray for help from any supernatural being who might be able to provide it. Ultimately, it was the support of Jackson’s mother (guest-star Debbie Allen) and April’s encounter with a woman who recently lost her fiancee that gave her the strength go through with the procedure and embrace their son, Samuel Norbert Avery until the end… TEARS. OF. GREYS. *sidenote* Jesse and Sarah have been absolutely brilliant in their roles since we returned from the hiatus. I mean, the heartbreak these two convey is so palpable. Seriously, well done!
Second, I was pretty shocked (FLABERGASTED) by this week’s medical case of a woman going into labor and having a baby girl without ANY prior knowledge of being pregnant. During the live tweeting, fellow Grey‘s fans shared with me that this situation actually happens a lot more than one would expect. There’s even a TV show on TLC! In any event, it was very heartwarming to see a woman and her husband who’d been told they could never conceive have their miracle baby.
Finally, I really enjoyed watching Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) come to the realization that she could depend on Maggie (Kelly McCreary). The entire episode, Mer was trying to find someone who could babysit the kids while she made a trip to Washington DC for an emergency sex session with Derek (Patrick Dempsey). After asking Bailey (Chandra Wilson), Karev (Justin Chambers), and even Chief (James Pickens Jr.), Maggie made a case to Mer for her childcare skills—she loved kids, these were her niece and nephew, she loved to bake, and much more. And it was like a lightbulb went off for Meredith…she had a sister that she could count on. I really hope that this will lead to a signigficant development of the Meredith/Maggie relationship.
In tonight’s episode, “The Great Pretender,” written by Mark Driscoll, directed by Jeanot Szwarc, and guest-starring Geena Davis and Debbie Allen:
Maggie gets upset when Meredith dodges her questions about DC; Bailey and Ben become concerned about Ben’s brother after he is admitted to the hospital, and Dr. Herman starts to warm up to Arizona. Meanwhile, Richard feels manipulated by Catherine. (via ABC)
Take a look at a clip from the upcoming show—if you’ll recall from the end of last week’s Grey’s, Maggie agreed to watch the kids for Meredith while she went to D.C. to visit Derek. In the video below, Maggie confronts Meredith because apparently, Mer spent the weekend with someone, but it wasn’t her husband:
Oh my…perhaps I shouldn’t get too excited about these two getting closer! Like Maggie, my first reaction is to think Mer is cheating on Der, but I really hope she isnt’! Maybe Meredith just needed a weekend by herself to recuperate, away from her husband, kids, and job…? What do you think?
