Harvey, Mike, and Rachel are on the case to #SaveDonna! Preview tonight’s episode of Suits “Intent,” airing at 10:00pm ET|PT on USA Network.
After “Fork in the Road” I thought all was well in the Suits world! Louis (Rick Hoffman) had finally forgiven Mike (Patrick J. Adams) for lying about going to Harvard, and we were all back on the same time. However, just like the title of the episode suggested, things for our favorite lawyers got seriously “Derailed” last week.
We began with Professor Gerard (Stephen Macht) calling Mike for a mysterious meeting. When he arrived, Gerard disclosed that he wanted Mike and Harvey’s (Gabriel Macht) help to take on a case of a whistle-blower (Joe Henderson, played by guest star Michael Harney) who was fired from Liberty Rail because he knew the real reason for the train crash, in which the company was liable for faulty heat sensors. Even more sinister, Gerard revealed that he knew Mike never went to law school and used that information to essentially blackmail Mike into convincing Harvey to investigate.
Mike decided to take on the case, personally. He felt passionately about helping the families of the innocent people that died in the crash and, if there was a cover-up, Mike was going to uncover it. However, it was quite possible the whistle-blower wasn’t telling the truth. Initially, Mike believed Joe, especially since he came across emails confirming the existence of a report that showed defective parts were at fault for the crash. He planned to demand a $40 million settlement as well as Liberty Rail’s public admission of guilt…something the corporation was unlikely to do. Mike really needed to get his hands on that original (unaltered) report, but wasn’t sure how to go about it. Enter Darling Donna (Sarah Rafferty) to save the day. Posing as an agent of the National Transportation Safety Board, she was able to get maintenance work orders from Liberty Rails’ headquarters.
This was the ace we needed, and Harvey and Mike were feeling pretty good after presenting the information to Liberty’s CEO and their attorney (Evan Smith, played by guest star Tricia Helfer). However, Donna’s interference was quickly exposed—Evan had security video of Donna taking the maintenance documents and planned to give the evidence to the D.A.
Elsewhere, Jeff (D.B. Woodside) AKA “Black Stallion” (LOL Norma) was planning a trip to Paris and intended to take Jessica (Gina Torres) with him. Jeff was also having some fun with Louis by paying the receptionists to leave off “Litt” from the law firm’s name when answering phone calls. In a gesture of good will (and for Jessica’s sake) Jeff went out for drinks with Louis. But things must have gotten a little out of hand—Louis admitted that he didn’t use the Daniel Hardman embezzlement secret to get name partnership. Regrettably, just as Jessica was planning to tell Jeff the truth, he broke things off because of her lying.
Overall, an exceptional episode for Patrick J. Adams’ directorial debut!
In tonight’s episode “Intent,” guest-starring Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica) and Michael Harney (Orange is the New Black):

The promo for tonight’s episode looks even more ominous than the synopsis! Donna is being charged with the intent to commit fraud because of how she helped Mike with his case at the end of last week’s episode…and, unfortunately, she is guilty:
When it comes to Donna, Harvey gets personal. Catch the all-new episode that’ll have everyone talking, Wed at 10/9c. http://t.co/31fGF6R954
