Earlier today, FOX announced that Sleepy Hollow will be back for a third season. In addition, Clifton Campbell will replace Mark Goffman as showrunner.
It’s been about three weeks since Sleepy Hollow’s intense, game-changing season finale “Tempus Fugit,” and I’m still reeling from the turns that show took. All season long we wondered about the nature of Ichabod (Tom Mison) and Katrina’s (Katia Winter) relationship, especially given the strong IchAbbie connection. But seeing Katrina embrace her dark side and choose being with Jeremy (John Noble) over her husband was a very interesting development.
I really enjoyed watching Katrina be in firm control of her decisions, even if I disagreed with them. And of course, the final confrontation between Ichabod and Katrina in the last moments of the finale forced him to make a decision that, in my opinion, was a long time coming—Abbie (Nicole Beharie) or Katrina? He chose to save his fellow Witness (*WOOT*); however, killing Katrina already seemed to weigh on Ichabod’s conscience. In any event, Team Witness was alive and ready to face off in an oncoming war against evil.
Over these three weeks, we Sleepy Heads have been awaiting any news about a third season. For the most part, things wrapped up nicely in the season 2 finale, but given their new pledge to confront evil at any turn, surely there must be more for Abbie, Ichabod, Jenny (Lyndie Greenwood), and Irving (Orlando Jones)?!
Well, earlier today, David Madden, President, Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company announced that Sleepy Hollow will return for season 3! Furthermore, television producer Clifton Campbell will replace Mark Goffman as executive producer and showrunner.
According to Mr. Madden:
“SLEEPY HOLLOW is truly inventive television. The talented producers – led by Alex, Bob, Len and Heather – along with the brilliant cast, anchored by Nicole and Tom, have created a fantastic world that brings ‘history’ to life with compelling and vibrant storytelling. I had the pleasure of working with Clifton on both ‘The Glades’ and ‘White Collar.’ He is an excellent producer, and we can’t wait to see what this team has in store for Season Three.”
How exciting! The press release also gives us a general idea of what season 3 has in-store for us:
With evil seemingly at bay, the third season will explore how the partnership between Crane and Mills will evolve and what challenges these two witnesses will now face.
I’m thrilled to hear this and eager to see what happens to Team Witness next! What do you think of the news? Share your thoughts with us in comments!
