How far will Emily go to alleviate her guilt about Daniel’s death and Margaux losing her baby? Preview tonight’s Revenge, “Clarity,” airing at 10:01pm ET|PT on ABC.
Last week’s Revenge completely embodied the episode title as various characters endure serious losses.
“Loss” picked up with Jack (Nick Wechsler) being arrested for drunk-driving and Baby Carl being taken away as Emily (Emily VanCamp) and Ben (Brian Hallisay) looked on. Emily was watching after Carl while his dad was away, but the entire situation reminded her of the night when David (James Tupper) was arrested all those years ago. She knew Jack was being framed and flew Stevie Grayson (Jack’s mom, Gail O’Grady) to the Hamptons to help. After the bail hearing, knew that Margaux (Karine Vanasse) was involved.
While trying to figure out how to prove Jack’s innocence, Nolan (Gabriel Mann) came across security footage of the bar that showed Margaux’s henchman had spiked Jack’s drink. The blood sample that would clear Jack was mysteriously missing, so Emily made it her mission to find it…meaning she had to take the henchman down. It was a fierce fight and Emily was able to hold her own and get the blood sample, even though the guy escaped. She got the sample to Ben, who was able to get it back to the lab.
The blood sample showed that Jack wasn’t drinking, but the judge refused to admit it into evidence. We eventually learned that Judge Knowles (Lucinda Jenney) was up for re-election and just got several endorsements from LeMarchal publications. Interesting. However, the judge agreed to admit the sample after Ben, Nolan, and Emily (Lady Justice) spiked Judge Knowles’ water with acetone at dinner…like what happened to Jack. All the charges were dropped.
As Jack was released on bail, he had to undergo an investigation with a social worker to determine if he was a fit parent. The social worker (Tony Hughes, Josh Pence) was very critical of Jack, Stevie, David Clarke, and even Nolan. Interestingly, it was the exchange with Nolan that opened up Tony’s perspective. And from the way things ended, there might be some romantic potential between the two of them.
Elsewhere, now that Victoria (Madeleine Stowe) had access to her full inheritance from Edward Grayson, she was planning to build the Daniel Grayson research wing as an addition to the hospital. She was sure that the proposal would be approved by the board; however, the measure was defeated by one board-member. Victoria thought it was Emily who was the obstacle, but it was actually Margaux who voted it down. She didn’t want to announce her pregnancy in conjunction with the new research wing. But Margaux agreed to change her vote if Victoria supported her in keeping the pregnancy secret.
After getting encouragement from David to let go of her quest for revenge, Emily went to Margaux. She gave Margaux her real birth certificate and proposed a truce so they could clear Daniel’s name together. Margaux turned to leave…and was hit by a random taxi. Unfortunately, she lost her baby. And when Victoria asked Margaux what happened, she said that Emily pushed her in front of the taxi…NOT TRUE. With that said, Emily felt some serious guilt and turned to her dad for help.
In other developments: Louise (Elena Satine) was still reeling from Lyman’s accidental death, especially with Ben and the police showed up the next morning to say that they’d found her brother’s body on the beach. She put up a good act though…but the guilt must have overwhelmed Louise. She confessed the truth of what happened with Lyman—finding him snooping in Nolan’s computer, arguing with Lyman, and then the accidental fall. Nolan told Louise to keep the truth quiet.
In tonight’s episode, “Clarity,” written by Karin Gist, directed by Allison Liddi-Brown, and guest-starring Courtney Love as White Gold:
EMILY MAKES A DECISION THAT COULD COST HER FRIENDS EVERYTHING—A grief-stricken Emily tries to repair her collateral damage while Victoria pursues a fresh lead with renewed vigor. (via ABC)
Take a look at this clip from the upcoming show: Emily is clearly agitated. She wants to clear Daniel’s name, but both Jack and Ben think it’s a bad idea. Yet she’s dealing with a lot of guilt, especially with Margaux losing the baby…
Emily definitely lives between two worlds, but she’s been doing this for so long…how can she get out of it? And will confessing that she’s Amanda Clarke really make things easier? Thoughts?

She’s kept one secret from the world for years. Things are about to change. #Revenge is new Sunday at 10|9c on ABC! https://t.co/0vzS7lzF7P
