As Jenny is about to give birth, Claire says (what she hopes is) a brief good-bye to Jamie. Preview Outlander episode “The Watch”, airing Saturday, May 2 at 9:00pm ET|PT on STARZ.
So…how about that ending of last week’s Outlander?! Sure “Lallybroch” was filled with awkwardness—Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) were trying to settle down into life as Laird and Lady. They butted heads with Jenny (Laura Donnelly) as well as other members of the community. But things were getting better! Jamie and Jenny had made amends: they now knew the truth of Black Jack Randall’s (Tobias Menzies) depravity and is role in their recent unhappiness. And finally, FINALLY, Jamie and Claire declared their love for one another! He loved her round arse, rock-solid head, and vulnerability. She loved him too 🙂 We were happy, thrilled, swooning! But then Claire woke up the next day and left their room only to find Jamie being held at gunpoint by three men. WHAT IN THE WORLD?! (For a full recap with clips and photos, head over HERE.)
Well, this Saturday’s episode picks up EXACTLY where we left off. In “The Watch”, written by Toni Graphia, directed by Metin Hüseyin, and with the return of Lochlainn O Mearáinn as Horrocks:
Jamie finds himself between a rock and a hard place when a redcoat deserter from his past resurfaces. Claire tends to a laboring Jenny while Jamie and Ian join The Watch on an ambush, resulting in devastating consequences. (via STARZ)
Thanks to STARZ we have two clips from the upcoming show to share. In the first (“Coming into the World a True Scot”) Jenny is about to give birth, but Claire is concerned because the baby in breech. And the second clip (“Hurry Back”) features a sweet Jamie/Claire moment. Jamie and Ian (Steven Cree) are about to leave Lallybroch to join The Watch and Claire warns him to come back quickly and safely:
Goodness gracious…so many feelings! I made this comment when live-tweeting “Lallybroch” last week, but I think it bears repeating: I’m actually scared of all the wine and whisky I’ll have to drink to make it through the next 3 episodes. Those of us familiar with the books know the events we’re building up to…even viewers less familiar with the series can feel the trouble that’s brewing.
How do we get through it (without drinking ourselves to oblivion)? Well, we have each other, and I love my fellow Sassenachs! We also have the faith that, no matter what, Jamie and Claire’s love will see them (and us) through the worst.
Take a look at 10 photo stills from “The Watch” and remember to tune into STARZ at 9:00pm ET|PT for the new Outlander. I’ll be live tweeting so come join me as we watch!
