Tonight is Jane’s high school reunion! Preview Jane The Virgin episode “Chapter Twenty-One” airing at 9:00pm ET|PT on The CW.
Last week’s Jane The Virgin (“Chapter Twenty”) began with Abuelita Alba (Ivonne Coll) recovering her memory of Magda (Priscilla Barnes) pushing her down the stairs! She recalled being upset with Petra (Yael Grobglas) and making her way to Petra hotel room where she overheard a man calling for help. As she made her way into the stairwell, she felt hands on her shoulders pushing and got a glimpse of Petra’s mother standing there. Jane (Gina Rodriguez) was adamant that they go to the police, but Alba wanted to put it behind her. Abuelita was likely also worried about her immigration status.
Elsewhere, Luisa (Yara Martinez) had returned from her ashram and had a new girlfriend, Juicy Jordan (Vanessa Vander Pluym), a female pro-wrestler. She was back just in time to break a tie between Rafael (Justin Baldoni) and Petra about how to move forward (wither to take out a new loan or consider doing time shares at the hotel). Luisa suggested that they host a professional wrestling match (#MeleeAtTheMarbella). The match was a success, but this wasn’t Rafael’s dream from the hotel. He then confessed everything to his sister—finding his mother, losing Jane, why he needed the hotel to succeed. But Luisa didn’t think Rafael should have given Jane up for the sake of the hotel.
Petra had also brought Magda back to the hotel because she didn’t want to be alone while dealing with Roman’s death (for real this time), but she still hadn’t forgiven her mom. Magda was also working at the hotel…and had a run-in with Jane. Jane then confronted Petra and threatened to make sure Magda paid for what she’d done. Later, Xo (Andrea Navedo) encouraged Jane to go to Michael (Brett Dier) since he’d previously helped with Alba’s immigration situation.Michael agreed and called Petra and Magda in for questioning. They both lied and were even able to get Ivan to say he was hired as a plumber and not being held hostage. Petra still went ahead and fired her mother, but only because this was an attempt to get Rafael back.
In other developments: Rogelio (Jaime Camil) had broken up with Xo because she kissed Marco (Nicholas Gonzalez). Xo was upset, but asked for Jane’s help to get him back. Rogelio was also making a come back! Since he’d left The Passions of Santos, ratings had been down. The head writer Dina (Judy Reyes) showed up to beg Rogelio to return to the show. El Presidente was back! Jane went to see him on-set to talk to him, but Rogelio didn’t want to hear it. He’d already dealt with cheating significant others. At the Melee, Xo confessed her love, but Rogelio still didn’t want to get back together. Ultimately, Xo decided to accept Rogelio’s decision…though he didn’t look so happy about it after all.
By the end of the episode, Jane and Rafael were still on the outs. She was trying to be positive, especially while at the doctor’s appointments. The baby was also breech, adding to her stress. But she was determined to have a peaceful co-parenting situation and learn to be a single mother. Jane was finally able to get the baby to turn around…at the same time, she also had a change of heart. She didn’t want her child around Petra or Magda…so she quit the Marbella and planned to demand full custody of the baby.
In tonight’s episode “Chapter Twenty-One” written by Jessica O’Toole and Amy Rardin and directed by Stuart Gillard:
REUNIONS—Jane is nervous to attend her five year high school reunion because she feels her life is not what she expected it to be. Rafael confides in Petra about Jane’s custody request, making Petra think she can fix the problem and become the hero. Xo is confused about Rogelio’s reaction during their show rehearsal until she learns the real reason behind it. Meanwhile, Jane agrees to attend Michael’s commendation ceremony, but she has a few ground rules. (via The CW)
