Teen Wolf is back for Season 5 beginning Monday, June 29 at 10 PM ET|PT????????? on MTV. Watch the first official trailer and get a first glimpse of the new villains in town.
Since it was confirmed last summer at San Diego Comic-Con that Teen Wolf would be back for a for a two-part, 20-episode fifth season, little by little, we’ve been getting details about what Season 5 might hold.
If you’ll recall, the last time we were in Beacon Hills, supernatural creatures were under threat as a result of a Dead Pool, with banshee Meredith (Maya Eshet) as the Benefactor, seemingly under the direction of Peter (Ian Bohen), and based on a code list created by Lydia’s grandmother (who was also a banshee). Lydia (Holland Roden), Stiles (Dylan O’Brien), and Malia (Shelley Hennig) were eventually able to turn off the machine creating the Dead Pool lists.
The group later saved Scott (Tyler Posey) and Kira (Arden Cho) when they were kidnapped and taken to Mexico by Kate (Jill Wagner) and the Berserkers. Kate had turned Scott into a berserker, but with Liam’s (Dylan Sprayberry) help and a reminder about his true self, Scott was able to break free. Afterwards, he faced-off with Peter, who was responsible for helping Kate learn how to make berserkers…all done so he could reclaim the power of the alpha. Scott defeated him and in the end Peter was taken to Eichen House.
Meanwhile, Chris Argent (JR Bourne), who arrived with the Calaveras as backup, shot Kate, yet she still escaped. Chris would remain with the Calaveras to find her. Derek (Tyler Hoechlin), who we thought was losing his werewolf abilities or even dying, was actually evolving into a full wolf. And Malia was searching for information about her mother, who Peter told her was the Desert Wolf…interestingly, Braeden (U.S. Marshall turned mercenary, Meagan Tandy) had also spent time trying to track the Desert Wolf.
Earlier this April, MTV announced during its upfront presentation in New York that Teen Wolf would kick off with a TWO-PART premiere on Monday, June 29 and Tuesday, June 30 at 10:00pm ET|PT. Since then, we’ve gotten two teasers that give us a sneak peek of what’s to come, and warning us about the new villains Scott and his pack must face, the Doctors:
Creepy right?! I’m not really sure these “Doctors” have the best bed-side manner, if you know what I mean. The official Season 5 synopsis doesn’t provide very much consolation either:
On the eve of Senior Year, Scott and his friends find themselves facing the possibility of a future without each other, a next phase of their lives that might take them in different directions despite their best intentions. Little do they know that outside forces are already plotting to break the pack apart long before they ever see graduation. New villains that use a combination of science and the supernatural for a malevolent and mysterious purpose that will eventually pit Scott and his friends against their greatest enemy yet. (via MTV)
Well, MTV has finally released the full Season 5 official trailer! The almost two-minute video (below) begins with Scott and Stiles reflecting on how the last few months have been relatively nice and peaceful.
However, with the new school year about to start, Scott is concerned that the balance might shift…either things will get really good or really bad. We then get images of some of that impending chaos: Stiles mourning someone’s death; Lydia being checked into Eichen House; Deaton speculating about the rules governing the supernatural world; and of course the Doctors arrive.
In the midst of all this, we meet newcomer Theo (Cody Christian), “a lone wolf who is drawn to the spooky California town in search of a pack.”*** And it seems that Scott and Stiles disagree on whether Theo can be trusted to join theirs:
Lots of running, fighting, wolfing-out, arguing, birds dying, and CREEPTASTIC creatures…EEEP!
It’s pretty cool to see the pack back together! That first scene with then walking down the stairs at Beacon Hills High, with Scott in front and Kira, Lydia, Stiles, and Malia flanking him brings on all the flails! The gang is also in fighting form—Kira is wielding her katana like a badass and Lydia is doing the banshee shriek and warning us that “they’re coming…they’re coming for all of us.” So who are these Doctors and in what ways are they attempting to shift the supernatural rules? Finally, did you catch the glimpse of Parrish around the 49 second mark? How might he be a part of all this?
