During the Once Upon a Time panel at the 2015 Disney D23 Expo, cast and creators debuted the opening scene from the Season 5 premiere. Watch now and share your thoughts about the upcoming season.
During last month’s Once Upon a Time panel at Comic-Con, fans were treated to several sneak peeks from the upcoming fifth season! We got our first look at Dark Emma (crushing hearts with no remorse whatsoever) and also learned that Merida (Brave) would be joining us in Storybrooke. However, fellow Oncers will agree that we can never have too many previews!
This past Saturday (August 15) during OUaT’s panel at Disney D23 Expo, Lana Parrilla, Ginnifer Goodwin, Edward Kitsis, and Adam Horowitz debuted the opening scene from Season 5’s premiere episode!
If you’ll recall, the last time we were in Storybrooke, the darkness that once inhabited Rumple was let loose upon the world. In an attempt to save Regina and the rest of town, Emma sacrificed herself, picked up the dagger, and tethered the darkness to her soul. Dark Emma disappeared in a black whirlwind and the last image we had was of the dagger, now bearing Emma Swan’s name.
It appears that Season 5 picks up right where we left off with Henry, Snow, Charming, Regina, Robin, and Killian standing in the street wondering what to do next:

“She’s not in this world.” Nooooooooooooo! I have so many questions! Where is Emma? And how can we find Merlin so he can help us to defeat the darkness and free her?
*SIGH* Poor Killian…of course he’d pick up the dagger and call for Emma! He wants to be with her, no matter what. It reminds me of something Colin O’Donoghue said during the SDCC panel—Hook has been battling darkness, and while his love for Emma was able to pull him into the light, it’s possible that Dark Emma could lure him back to the dark side… (go HERE to watch the video of the full panel and fastforward to the 14:00 mark to see Colin’s comments).
Also, Regina calling Killian “Guyliner” is definitely a shout-out to fans, no? *giggles madly*
What do you think of the trailer? Do you have any theories about what we might see in the new season? Share your thoughts in comments!
Remember that Once Upon a Time‘s premiere episode “The Dark Swan” airs Sunday, September 27 at 8:00pm ET on ABC.
