PBS Masterpiece shares a new Downton Abbey trailer that gives fans more insight about the upcoming final season, including familiar scenes of upstairs/downstairs life.
As promised, today PBS Masterpiece gave Downton fans a fantastic Monday surprise! They’ve released a brand-new trailer that gives is a few more details about what we can expect in the upcoming final season.
We see familiar scenes of upstairs and downstairs life—lords and ladies visiting their country estates and enjoying a hunt, Lady Edith and Marigold settling down in London, Anna welcoming a new member of the staff.
But there is the hint that Lord Grantham is trying to tighten the belt: we see an auction as well as a discussion suggesting that Thomas’ job as under-butler might be in jeopardy (again!).
And unsurprisingly, Dowager Countess and Cousin Isobel are at odds about what’s best for the local hospital. Check out the trailer below:
“You don’t think maybe you should start calling me Elsie?”
Mr. Carson looks so scandalized by the suggestion! I can’t wait to see more of their dynamic now that they’re married.
Also, this auction makes me very nervous, though it is probably historically accurate. We’re about to enter the Depression and we know many of these large, aristocratic manors didn’t survive *sigh*
I’m very jealous of our UK friends who get to enjoy Downton Abbey‘s sixth season starting this Sunday. But I know that the wait until January will be more than worth it!
Downton Abbey’s final season begins September 20, 2015 on ITV (UK) and January 3, 2016 on PBS Masterpiece (U.S.).
